But the issue that seems of utmost importance here is not that people kill people (they always have), that they kill chill children (many here are totally OK with abortion, though that can be SHOWN to be the murder of a living child), or that they kill in the plural (5 or more people at once, to take a number that would begin to draw more attention).

It is clearly of benefit to people seeking to impose tyranny to remove any possibility of the people defending themselves by force. Thus, it is clearly of benefit to THEM that things like school shootings happen often enough to use as a reason to treat citizens as incapable of handling deadly force (though the government, of course, will continue to do so).

This is another subject I've debated in various ways until my fingers got sore. It never made a single dent in the thinking of those who think gun control for the United States does not make sense. I was tempted to give it another go but thought better of it. Along with debating religion, it will get us nowhere.

Meanwhile, I am glad I live in a country that does have gun control. It's not a panacea but the US needs it, badly.
