“Imagine” by John Lennon
(“If only everyone was nice, and there were no sin and evil in the world!”)
Any pop song that just repeats the same refrain over and over again.
(“This song is just six words long”.)
I remember that song, I thought it was kind of naive, or dreamy...
Well, it beats watching "The News"!
For inane repetitions, I nominate this golden moldie (no original video by The Capitals). I wonder what our successors will make of this lyrical wasteland? I can see Africans complaining, "What did you do to our culture?!"![]()

I hated this song with a passion when I was a kid:

The Archies "Sugar, Sugar", I played with a rock band, we thought it was too dated (1950's). The Latin band, no way we were playing that syrup - no beat to it. The Country-Western band, it didn't fit either. We had a hard time deciding to do "Like a Rhinestone Cowboy."
I like the comment: "I have a dog named Sugar and I sing this to her endlessly" and a reply: "me too that's why I'm here. I've been singing this to Sugar since she was 6 weeks old "
This song came out in 1969. I saw Santana play in NYC the same year (we had seats in the next-to-last row), and we exchanged greetings with 2 of the band members outside on the sidewalk in passing. Our drummer recognized them....gonna see them play in Kansas City on April 12th.

I couldn't stand this song, The music was vacuous, the lyrics goofy, but mostly because a couple of my friends could do it (Posting this version, it includes the lyrics).
