Друзья, мы ищем волонтеров для помощи в изучении амурского тигра с ноября 2021 года по февраль 2022 года. Благодарим за репост!
Задача крайне ответственная - добровольцу предстоит в паре со специалистом Сихотэ-Алинского заповедника ходить по зимней тайге по следам тигра (метод тропления) и проверять фотоловушки, установленные на всей особо охраняемой природной территории.
Это сложная физическая работа, поэтому мы ищем человека с опытом полевых работ в зимних условиях. Человека, который умеет ходить по гористой местности на лыжах и снегоступах и не боится суровой погоды и многодневных походов с ночевками в зимовьях.
Но также это уникальная возможность внести свой вклад в сохранение редкой полосатой кошки и побывать в самых удаленных местах крупнейшего заповедника в Приморье, куда редко ступает нога человека!
Заповедник организует транспорт на территорию заповедника и предоставляет комфортное проживание в поселке Терней между экспедициями. Продолжительность одной экспедиции – не более 5-ти дней. Питание и проезд до поселка за свой счет.
К рассмотрению принимаются заявки от людей, готовых пробыть на территории заповедника минимум один месяц и более. Высылайте краткое резюме с опытом полевых работ и ссылкой на свой профиль в социальных сетях на почту sikhote-press@inbox.ru. Не забудьте указать период, в который вы готовы приехать.

This is a difficult physical job, so we are looking for someone with field experience in winter conditions. A man who knows how to walk in a mountainous area skiing and snowfalls and is not afraid of harsh weather and multi-day camping trips in winter.
But it is also a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation of a rare striped cat and visit the most remote places of the largest reserve in Primorye, where the human leg rarely steps!
The reserve organizes transport to the territory of the reserve and provides a comfortable stay in the village of Ternay between expeditions. The duration of one expedition is not more than 5 days. Meals and travel to the village at your own expense.
Applications from people who are ready to stay in the reserve for at least one month or more are accepted for consideration. Send a brief summary with field experience and a link to your social media profile to sikhote-press@inbox.ru. Don't forget to specify the period you are ready to arrive.

I probably saw one of these this summer.

In Southern Oregon, there is a big cat park and they have lots of neat and exotic big cats.

They had a number of different big cats from the Russia regions.

Well, from what i read at that park, there arent many big cats left in russia, let alone the world.

Maybe people here will find this as funny as I did, but i had my kid take pics of the Siberian big cats in america to show his babushka and dedushka who have lived in siberia their whole lives.

Cuz they are super rare.

Through conservation and educating the humans who lived alongside the Amur Tiger and who had previously been in conflict or hunted the largest cat on this planet, numbers have doubled in recent years.

About 600 adult Amur tigers - 95% of the world population - live in the regions of Primorsky, Khabarovsk, Amur regions and the Jewish Autonomous region in the Far East of Russia.

Some Amur tigers also live in China and in North Korea.

The next tiger census in the RF will be held his coming winter.

And, yes, I believe that there are more Tigers, of all kinds, living in captivity than in the wild!

I had heard of these tigers since i was young and been in the forests of siberia but it was only when i saw them that i saw how big they were and how much of apex predator they were and how terrified i would have beeen if i had come across one in the wild.

They are simply amazing creatures and need to be saved.
