My favorite is Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, and my 2nd favorite is Samara, Russia. I have been to many Hauptbahnhof in Germany and Austria (and Schweiz), but not anywhere else, so I am no authority.

it is now some time ago i last used the trains. either to go to Austria or here in Russia. my favorite in Moscow is the Paveletsky Station. Not only the station alone, but also the Bus,Tram and Metro connections that are easy accessible.
In VIENNA i do admit i was last quite few years ago. When arriving by train from Moscow early everything, but everything was still closed. No bank,not even an ATM, no place to eat ( except a -fast food bakery- who was though extremely nice, even when i wanted,or better had to, pay for my breakfast with a 500 Euro note. No credit or debit cards that time, cash only...)

BTW, I've read the source (pdf link at the bottom of the page), the rating is compiled by two young gals, one from US, one from Tbilisi, and imho reflect the view of only students/indigo/z gen...

i was supposed to exchange them at the bank for smaller nominations. not one bank had open that early morning, or any machine where one can change big notes into small ones. but the ladies at the bake shop were understanding, since i was the first one they did not have that much small change in their tills either. but the manager opened the office and hsi safe, got money out and i did not have to peel potatoes or wash the dishes...

I joined the army so I would not have to peel potatoes and wash pots and dishes in the restaurant.

But in the army peeling I was peeling potatoes and washing dishes in the mess hall.

At least I learned how to use the tool, they call a potato peeler, which makes it fast and easy to peel potatoes, without losing much of the potato.

I like Kievsky and Leningradsky train stations. Beyond that, I'm a big fan of all of Moscow's train stations. They've managed to keep their Eastern European feel, with the old fashioned trains and unique smell that seems to me like a combination of coal and diesel.
