If the owner is of 'pension' age, then one property is exempt from property taxes, i.e. you pay nothing. A married couple of pension age who own 2 properties - one registered to the husband and the other registered to the wife - are exempt from taxes on both properties.

Hire an English-speaking accountant, then you don't have the hassle of dealing with different entities with different types of taxes, language and jargon difficulties, waiting in line at offices... Well worth it.

300,000–500,000 p: 0.1 to 0.3%
500,000 p+: 0.3% to 2%

There would be enough snow for a snowmobile, and the nearby Volga freezes over. I even drove a car on it, to an island for some sashlik.

I just assume we would need to move back for medical care but who knows? I think the paid care we got has been pretty good. How do you feel about the medical care there?

The US health care is the most expensive and lest effective among the richest nations. I read some where that 200,000 people die every year from medical malpractice. Doctors are paid for by big drug companies and like to prescribe drugs by the company that give them kickbacks or bonuses. In the US they treat you, they don't cure you. That would be bad for business. But watch out for private medical centers here. They too just try to get you coming back for more treatments. I tried it a couple of times and after going to a state hospital was cured quickly. I even went to the American Medical Center and got the run around and a bill of 14,000 rubles (the ruble was at 23 to the dollar at the time) and wasn't cured. So I went to the Russian clinic and the young doctor cured me after the first visit and it cost 1,400 rubles. I feel that both my mother and brother's lives were cut short by doctors in America. It's best to stay away from doctors no matter where you are, if anyone knows how to kill people it's doctors.

Yeah, I'm not enamored with US health care. And it's likely to get even worse. But for very specialized procedures like heart surgeries or such, I'd still probably trust US doctors more. Although I suspect Moscow in particular has some of the very best specialists.

Also, as an FYI, there are two major projects planned for Tver. There's a new rail line that will be constructed south of the city and a new highway that will go north of the city. They have general locations mapped out but it seems the plans are still in flux.

Anyway, it appears the house I posted as an example is near the planned rail line. The wife checked into it more - there will be a rail station below Tver as well. The line is intended to have 96 trains pass through per day. That averages out to one train every 15 minutes. And the fastest trains are supposed to be traveling at 400kph. So yeah, we would have to be careful to avoid that area.
