    Old British Money ?

Does anyone know that the "Royal 8vo" means? Is it a price? This old album, for postage stamp collectors, was printed between 1888 and 1892, and appears to have been printed in Deutschland, although on the first page it refers to John Walker & Co., a London publisher. You can see "Made in Germany" at the bottom of the second photo. Wondering about the "8 vo" or maybe the "v" is another letter or the "o" is a zero...

It has absolutely nothing to do with money or currency..............

8vo is an abbreviation for Octavo which represents the folio size

    The pic is Royal 8vo 9(17 x 25 cm)

Wow, I'm amazed. How did you figure that out? I was searching for "money".

Yes, the "8vo" it matches the size of the book.

    Thank you, comrade!

Me too. I love old books. I have US civil war, Spanish-American war, etc. I got some old German maps from WW1 and a pile of Russian books going back to the 1880's for $1 each. Nobody here speaks German or Russian, so they don't bid.

But one time they bid a Russian clock up to $400, it was from the submarine "Red October" which of course is a fictional boat... I'm not malicious, I read the Russian on it for the auctioneer and they announced it was from the submarine "Red October" but Americans don't seem to be able to discern a movie about a Russian submarine from a real Russian submarine.

My daddy gave me a copy of the Richard Halliburton travel book when I was like 8 or so, and it was endlessly fascinating. I collect them now. Also the "Lands and Peoples" series, I have 3 sets of these, but they don't fetch much on Ebay, there are too many people cleaning out their attics and basements and selling online. But it's a good hobby, you are collecting value, as printing goes to ebooks, old books will become more valuable.
