I don't understand what a meme is. I see the definition, but I can't relate it to anything I already understand. What I don't understand is what useful functionality it has.

We used to have jokes, but most "jokes" are not funny anymore, having been deemed "unfunny" by the Cancel Culture. Is a meme the 21st century equivalent of a "joke"?

Okay, here's one I can relate to, I know someone like this:
ASK-HOLE "Someone who constantly asks your advice, but always does the opposite of what you told them."

"Meme's" seem to me to be selected evidence to "prove" that the human race is stupid.

You are really getting too old aren't you? A meme is when you take a photo from the internet and write something that makes the photo funny like in the examples above. It's for people who can't draw cartoons I guess but I did throw one cartoon in and may throw more in. This thread is just to have fun, for the shits and giggles so to speak. If you want to tell stupid jokes, start your own thread old man.

to me face book and twitter and a few others are more like the KGB,FSB,CIA,STASI and BND and NSA together. though there is one big difference: on those - social media- we give out nearly all the details of our lives freely and unasked...and without any pressure or threats...
