Vostok?

Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Found this in a box of costume jewelry yesterday at the auction. Paid $2 for it. Nobody else knew what it was. Runs great. I wound it up and it's been running accurately for 24 hours. BTW, anyone not familiar with Russian wristwatch, don't try to force wind it, it winds backwards from your Western watch.

Does anyone know if this is made by Vostok? I don't want to take off the back, I usually scratch it.

There's another one on eBay, almost identical, but it says "сделано в ссср". The seller is in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, and the quality looks not so good. I suppose the lack of "ссср" stamp means that this one is post-Soviet Union?

I can't tell if the "cracks" in the dial are there by design, or that "cracked" surface is deterioration...

it depends in which condition they are. what NUMBER is on the back. if it was manufactured in millions it will be peanuts you get for it. if it was an -exclusive - with low numbers it will cost. does it have scratches- is it -pristine -`? those are all factors for buying and selling...

I was told there were two factories to manufacture wristwatches. One factory to make the high-quality variant, for export. The other factory, less quality-control, for domestic consumption.

that on top of it.the -2nd watch factory - near Belaruskaja Railway Station was one of them. On top of it when times were hard they were making millions of -1 $- watch movements but no casings. for export to Japan. Did not help them either. They are -history- now. the factory that is...
