    Seeing Things

Fantastika, Summer, 1969: I was a keyboardist in a locally-renowned rock band: On a Sunday afternoon, we were all in our "big boat" car, traveling up the hill which ran alongside one of the Finger Lakes in NY, and I was on LSD. This 30-mile long lake (Seneca or Keuka) was on the left, and the bordering hill walked along to the right. Then someone put in the Bee Gees tape and this song came on. I think the song was "Got to Get a Message to You".

    Everyone got quiet.

The music transports me to a strange and wonderful place. It was like a vision. It was like angels were coming down from heaven, to share with me more than just this wonderful song. A melodic epiphany. Singing of joy, of faith, singing with their 16-part voices in divine harmony. I could almost see this chorus of angels, but it was more an "audio vision". I could not "see" God, but I felt a divine presence, everywhere, in the beautiful deep blue lake, in the trees passing by, in my fellow hushed passengers. I could envision the holy choir of this wonderful song on a distant, far-above balcony, I could hear the happy diapason of the hallelujah chorus, I could feel eternal blessedness suffusing the warm summer air, flowing easily through the open windows of our otherworldly touring bus. The majestic chorus was seeming to reach out, it touched my mind, my soul, it reassured me of an extraordinary constant presence, it reaffirmed my faith in humanity. As the enchanting song slowly modulated, and our magical vehicle moved higher and higher from the lake's surface, I felt like I was ascending into a higher spiritual understanding of the universe...

A couple days later, I got a box of fine point magic marker pens, twenty different colors, and spent all day drawing/painting a picture, which I titled "Faith". I still have that around here somewhere, I think. Roommates have thought it was junk and put it in the trash can, but I have always rescued it.

Listening to "The Dog", not my usual talk radio. Classic rock, maybe it's a 60's song? I'm driving along, and relaxing, tuning into the rhythm and bass beat of the music, I start to get a vision. No, I'm not on LSD, and I'm paying attention to my driving, but I feel I'm being tunneled into to some place distant in time and place.

I can almost see, in my mind's eye, this figure, standing, on a far-above balcony, gazing down upon the world. It reminds me of my long -ago vision in the hippy 1960's. (LSD can have long-lasting effects). The figure, he is not a world leader, he stands apart from others, from the world's leaders, but thrives on communication. He is not "wise" but simply represents what is good in all of us. He makes it easy for all of us to see the spiritual good in all of us, to trust, to have faith in ourselves and others. He is not a president, a premier, a dictator. He is not a politician, not a statesman. He is not Russian, Chines, American, Black, White, not Catholic, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, not a socialist, not capitalist, no communist. He speaks only the language of understanding. he is separate from national leaders, he stands alone in moral and ethical presence, but does not presume to be better than any of us.

He is the spiritual leader of planet Earth. He sees his mission as to reduce our misery, misogyny, misanthropy, misunderstandings, our troubles, our unhappiness. He does focus on our problems or failures, he helps push us forward to success, he is able to help us realize our true unlimited potential, to turn on our natural abilities, He is admired and adored, he is not worshipped. He does not rule, he only points the way to enlightenment, prosperity and happiness... the picture in my mind does go away, gradually, it echoes and re-echos...

    ...

Anyway, that's a what I saw. I think it may come down like that. 2021? Or maybe 2022, a gradual Sea Change, a new reality, the new paradigm. I saw a story just a couple of weeks ago that fitted in another piece of this 2025 puzzle I have been trying to put together ever since I was a little kid ...
    ...
When I was a little kid, I remember Dwight Eisenhower was president. The US was a much simpler (and happier) place. I had just started to read, and I read the newspaper when it was delivered every night. I noticed the headlines,
I learned "how things work" in my country. When there was a new social issue, there seemed to be a "chain of command" with regards to its resolution. Civil Rights, Rock Music, The Cold War, Pop Culture, Elvis Presley, Teen-agers, etc.... for weeks the newspaper would share stories and opinions from both sides of the issue, with this politician, or that reader, or the mayor or some other prominent authority expressing their opinion. Then the labor and business leaders would step in and offer their opinions. A few days later, next to last, was the Archbishop of New York. He was recognized, by the media and by most Americans, as the nation's pre-eminent moral authority. After everyone else but one had offered their opinion, the church, in the form of the Archbishop, would make its comments. Then Ike, the leader of the nation, the president, after weighing all the evidence and opinions presented, he would make the decision on how to handle the new social issue.

In the new paradigm, this could still be the decisional process, but now, reversed in the final step. The moral leader's opinions are more decisive about what are the best paths forward. National leaders are important, but salutatory.

Okay, that's what I saw. I am not claiming to be some prophet, but I think that's a possible scenario for how it will come down. One piece of it anyway. Only a glimpse. How all this division and societal knots begin to become unraveled and resolved. The Social Sciences, after 200 years, have become stultified and produce more problems than they solve. They have pointed out the deficiencies in traditional religion, but can never replace it. Although its adherents are well-intentioned, they are missing the spiritual ingredient in the human soul, so their mountains of clinical data concerning the human being come to naught...there is a better way forward...

In any case, 2021 is going to be a helluva lot better than 2020!

    ...

Warning: LSD is very powerful drug, it can leave permanent memories etched in your brain (that's my experience) and should not be taken when upset, angry, depressed or in fear, or for some "purpose", otherwise you may have unwanted memories later. Also, never mix it with beer or other drugs. I give this warning because it looks like Colorado has re-legalized a mild form of it and other states may soon follow.
