and of course nice to have a photographer there right on time and in place. though it is well known that what we call -photoshop- these days, was already well known back then.

Don't remember this. The Air Force probably saved his life reprimanding him and not sending him to Indochina.

I do remember my father telling me "there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old bold pilots". He was a Coast Guard pilot, and got reprimanded for landing a PBY (flying boat) in heavy seas to save a Lithuanian sailor who drank some bad alcohol and was in seizures.

    Thanks for the memory Ben.

So reading all of the article there is yet more proof that the camera does indeed lie!

Initially looking at the photo taken so many years ago, it had to be a fake or at least heavily doctored to capture such drama and clarity considering the speed of a MiG-17

Lets hope that after his military service, the pilot was calmer and more sensible during the next 25 years in civil aviation!

A video about it, and, they will try to repeat the stunt in a simulator, why not?

apparently he also wanted to fly under the second bridge, a railway bridge. but there was a train there, so he pulled up...or so it goes.
