Last days of the Decade

The 2010's are rapidly growing to a close....

Personally, I am happy the 2010's are over.

The 2000's started off with 9/11 and seemed to say that things would go on as usual, to crush everyone's hope that the new millennium would be much more enlightened, and far different than the past 1000 years.
The 2010's seemed to be all connected to that 2001 terrorist attack (like radiating cracks in a punctured window), and only now are things winding down.

However, the wars, bombings, conflicts may have been an aberration, and with the coming of 2020, humankind will advance, enter a new renaissance era.

Thoughts on the 2010's and the 2020's ?

for me the next year will be the beginning of another quiet year. just the way I like it. maybe because of my work i have been (nearly) all over the earth ball, seen things and events and people that i will remember the way it was 30 or 40 years ago. i will remember the good times i had. the things i had seen and could do. with all these millions of -lemmings - around these days, a horror scenario, at least for me. - Europe in 8 days-, who needs that? sometimes looking through the photos, no electronics back these days, REAL photos, i think to myself, i DO wonder that we got out alive. from some of these places. the bad times, while not forgetting, i do not wast my time thinking - what if- ....
and for the rest i will do and think as the Russians do ( freely translated) - dont cut up the bearskin, before you have not shot the bear-... has served me well so far. and will also in future..

Solar Eclipse on Christmas Day (December 25). The eclipse will go through Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia and pass overhead on my ex's southern Philippine island. Occurring on Dec. 26 but 25th in the US.

Seems odd to me... we speak of "The decade of the 30's" or "the Roaring 20's" etc. We don't consider 1930 to be part of the 1920's...

True. The complication comes from the fact that there never was a year 0, at least not in the Christian world. We went from 1BC to 1AD. So strictly speaking each decade and century starts from year 01 through to the end of year 00. Our fascination with putting labels on everything doesn’t help much either.
