You can start asking your self: "Do I really need a Russian Driver License at all, when I am in Russia on a visa?", and the answer may end up looking like: "No, you do not need a Russian Driver License unless you are going to work as a driver".
If you just want a Russian Driver License for the tun of it try to read on here: https://www.expatica.com/ru/living/t...chools-107702/

You can drive here using your foreign driving licence, only need to change if you're going to use your car for work, taxi, delivery, etc.

If you get caught doing that, you can kiss Russia goodbye forever - and maybe after serving some time in prison.

Yes, but 1500$?, way to much for a piece of plastic/paper that prove nothing.
What matters is the registration in some central database where you test results is stored too, with the data and time of these, without these information in the database your Driver License is worthless, ok, it may work in a routine stop at the road, but any more deeper inspection and you are not driving any longer, plus you may get some tickets to pay too. Remember that you have been driving without valid Driver License, and you had committed some sort of document counterfeiting.
    Is it worth that?

I have to admit that it could be cool to have a Russian Driver License for tram and trolleybus to show off with, but 1500$? No.

I have been living in Russia for some time and have lost my British driving license a long time ago. Here's the problem, I need a UK address to claim another document and I haven't got one as I live in Russia. Of course I can get a letter from the DVA to state I am licensed to drive but can't get the document. This letter will be required if I take the Russian theory test, and as far as I know that is all I would need to get a Russian license to drive. Am I right? Of course after all those years, I am taking to learn Russia more seriously. I did pass the Russian test for permanent residence, but believe me I'm totally useless and it's amazing how I passed it.

Any good links to practice Russian language to pass the Russian theory test?

Any good links to practice Russian language to pass the Russian theory test? If so, I would be most grateful. I can then add it my vocabulary while learning Russian. I seem to do better self learning, and I have plenty of natives around to practice with.

Ouch that hurts! QUOTE: If you are staying in the country beyond six months, you will be required to take a Russian driving test and get a Russian driving licence. Like many other European countries, there are both theoretical and physical parts to the driving test in Russia. However, as long as your licence is still valid in your home country, you may be allowed to take only the theory test and not the physical driving test. Bear in mind that both are conducted solely in the Russian language so you will need to speak some Russian.

This guide to getting a Russian driving licence includes:

Can I use my driving licence in Russia?
Who needs a Russian driving licence?
How to exchange your driving licence in Russia

This site (https://pdd-russia.com/pdd-online/ekzamen.html) presents a random set of real test questions. I use it (though not as often as I should) to try to recognize both the questions and answers as preparation. My Russian language skills are still too basic to be able understand everything, so I open two windows in my browser: one with the site and another with Yandex or Google translate and copy/paste first the question and then the answers.
Sadly I don’t think that will be allowed in the actual test.

I don’t know if you’re right or not, but several years ago I was faced with a similar problem when living in the United Arab Emirates when I had to exchange my licence for a local one. My problem them was that the UAE jobsworth I had to deal with insisted that my licence had to be issued by the same country that had issued my passport. However, though British I had been living in Luxembourg before moving to the UAE and so had a Luxembourg licence.
My only possibility was therefore to exchange my Luxembourg licence for a UK one, but, like you, I no longer had a UK address. I was able to call on the services of an old friend in the UK and “borrowed” their address so that the DVLA exchanged my Lux licence for a UK one, and then I was able to get my UAE licence. Fortunately for me, given that UAE drivers were about as good as Russian ones, they did return my UK licence to me as well as issuing my UAE one — so that when I returned to Europe at the end of my contract I was able to swap my UK licence back again without having to pass another test.

A long way of saying - do you not have friends or family still in the UK whose address you could borrow to get a UK licence again?
Or has the DVLA tightened up their rules to make this more difficult?
