Airbus landed without engines in a cornfield, 225 passengers, all alive, few lightly injured

    https://www.rbc.ru/society/15/08/201...from=from_main

the pilot and co pilot for sure knew their business.and the rest of the crew as well. both engines failed as a flock of birds got sucked into them. the pilot switched off both engines and put down the plane - safely on a cornfield. (or Maize or Кукуруза to get it understood for all). The pilot decided not to lower the landing gear but land the plane, full with Kerosine, on its belly. in the soft field otherwise for sure it would have flipped over or to one side and begun t burn. with many injured or dead as a result

Did they really need to start taking selfies that close to the plane?

what surprises me even more, how many had their - hand- luggage with them, huge rucksacks and bags and what have you. luckily indeed there was no fire and the plane had not to be evacuated in tow minutes... in an interview on TV i heard a person saying, -we have to go back inside , we forgot 2 of our bags there-.
I think the handling and landing of this plane will be in the books on par with landing on the Hudson river. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBUbxkBDtm4

The commander Damir Yusupov, 41, wanted to be a pilot (his father was Mi-8 heli pilot), but didn't pass medical commission when was youngster. So he has became a lawer, but didn't forget the dream. In the age of 32 he has entered pilot school for An-2 pilots in Buguruslan, and then to SPb institute of civil aviation, both finished with excellence, and in 35 he started to work for Ural Airlines (air company grown from Sverdlovsky detail of Aeroflot, USSR - now based in Ekaterinburg Koltsovo airport).

In total 55 ppl, including 17 children, turned to medical assistance, though seems nobody was injured seriously, 6 ppl were hospitalised for a case.

looks like -Sully - Sullenberger was not the only one who -landed- a plane - safely- in a river. Got this like from a poster on FB who pointed this out to me.

And there is a link in that article to another list of flights that required gliding (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...quired_gliding) where it seems there was another Russian flight in 1953 that had to land in the River Volga near Kazan.

Damir Yusupov (the pilot) met his wife while she was a passenger on one of his flights! Good man! (In America I think the woman would charge you with harassment for trying to ask her out)

And the pilot's words on that loudspeaker, while standing in the plane's door and still taking charge of the situation, have gone viral on Russian social media:

"Let's go to the right, towards the sun, along the rows of corn."

A great example of a courageous, principled man who never let go of his dreams!!
I am fascinated by Russia, this country with frigid weather, hard souls, and hot girls!
