German - ROSKONTROL - Ökotest checked 30 Strawberries. Amazing and worrying what they found.

from different supermarkets, hypermarkets and producers. These were all imports because the local strawberry season has nor started yet. out of 30 samples only 3 were found with any pesticides or herbicides or other poison. and most worrying apparently they found in Spanish Strawberries a poison that is banned for use in Germany. so what for does one need laws for all the EU when they do what they want. Imports also come from the previous North Africa colonies of Spain, Morocco that is or also Tunisia. Things are being shipped to Spain, and all over sudden they are being labelled -EU-.

Google Chrome will translate, here is the whole story.Nothing about Turkey though. Since they are not EU suppose it is not financially viable to export to Germany? So they send everything they have to Russia...

I definitely will wait for the local Strawberries from Lipetsk District...

the article said it was done last year. But they have no reason to believe that it will be any better this year.

that is going on since many years....and it is totally legal. by the way when going to a TUSIS carpet Manufacturer, while on vacation and excursion there. You get real good stuff for a more then decent price. But you do not want to schlepp it yourself... They send it to Spain, it is in the EU and from there with EU papers and tax certificates to Russia. And pay a fraction what you would have paid if you brought it in yourself....( though no freight forwarder will touch anything that is - old and antique- not worth the risk they say. at least for the tourist trade...)
