To anyone raised on peanut butter, Nutella is a heresy.

For me, raised on totalitarian creamery butter and sunflower oil, both sound a bit strange/perverted...

suppose yes, because for us also totally unknown. but so is peanut butter and jelly, an american staple for kids.( though I do love MARMITE or VEGGIMITE on toast. not every day, but once in a while even a Chef likes to eat -junk-.)

indeed it is. the Italians called it first with a different name. but for -export- they needed something more catching. they used the english word for -nut- and the italian female ending -ella-. which was supposed to mean, little nut. the whole story is in the link.https://www.wasistwas.de/archiv-wiss...namen-kam.html

there is a similar product produced STILL since DDR times, in the same factory in Germany. they got for Stiftung Warentest ( the equivalent of russian ROSKONTROL) as only product the certificate - very good-. from I do not remember anymore how many products tested. they are using to this day the same -old, original- recipe, with 45 % hazelnuts. and no palm oil. also a clip on youtube..
the nuts by the way the DDR brothers got from Georgia, in exchange for whatever.
By the way, and this is a little bit far from Nutella, 90% of German -local- grown Christmas trees, come from seeds picked in Georgia. Since CCCP times. also a youtube clip.
