I am reading at the moment - Thousand Days- John F. Kennedy in the White House. Written by Arthur M.Schlesinger jr.
I came along some quotes of famous people Kennedy had used. But one of them I think is a good one.

From Chesterton. - Don't ever take a fence down until you know the reasons why it was put up.- Page 98).

Reminds me of my days when vacationing in Südwest Afrika ( now Namibia). The first thing the farm owner told me. Find a gate, always leave it as it was. Meaning, the gate was open, leave it open. Was the gate closed, drive through but close the gate behind you again. The farmer had a reason to do that. That -we- might not know why it was like that.
