Forum postings without any Russian connection

It appears that there is quite a number of postings made to the forum which do not really have any connection with Russia. And in fact it appears that this number of postings is increasing compared to the time prior to the recent expat exodus.

Should there not be some forum rule to limit postings to things with an identifiable Russian connection? After all, there are enough news websites etc. on the internet where one can read those things in abundance. So this forum does not really seem to be the right place for this.

Alternatively, it there maybe is some rule limiting postings to things with an identifiable Russian connection, then why is this rule not somehow "enforced" (even if the "enforcement" e.g. were only a polite reminder about this rule by the administrator in postings without an identifiable Russian connection)?

May be the site should also ban all Russia bashing from people who live outside of The Russian Federation.......

Then again, we live on a globe where we should also be able to express our opinions and discuss what we wish, within reason and within the bounds of courtesy & respect!

No, just do not think it is necessarily of most interest to the majority of the forum participants to post today's weather forecast in Kuala Lumpur on this forum or the election results from Argentina (intentionally not using any real example)

Why should we not be concerned about what other countries are doing to Russia?

You know the same thing that is going on now previously happened before WW2 and do we really need WW3?

All what you are saying does of course have a connection with Russia, so in my humble opinion this would entirely belong into the forum. I am only talking about things which have absolutely nothing to do with Russia (or for that matter the post-Soviet space).

All what you are citing as an example would of course meet this criteria. That a bakery is closed in Paris because the employees are on strike, however, (to use a recent, slightly disguised real example) would probably not.

Delta268, I am sure that you are aware that many Russians like to travel the Globe and own property, or conduct business overseas. Many also have family members living abroad too.

As such, it is beneficial to be informed of what is happening outside of the RF's or CIS / SNG borders - most would rather be situationally aware than ignorant.

While it is of course true that many Russians like to travel the globe and own property, or conduct business overseas and that many also have family members living abroad, it might not be the most sensible use of this forum to educate them on this as there are thousands of news websites on all these subjects. Based on the same logic, it would be virtually essential to post any news story here because surely there will be some Russians who are somehow somewhere impacted by this. Russians like all other people can get sick, so we should post links to any health findings in the world. Russians have cars, so we should post links to any new car tests etc. etc. I am just not sure that this is really what the forum is visited for by most of its users.

I think this forum mostly has ignorance covered pretty well as it is. And most of the posting on unrelated is not doing much to reduce that ignorance. If anything, many of the most frequent posters do nothing but add to it.

But whatever, most anyone will just roll their eyes and move on from here.

For instance, the first four or five replies to this Egypt Air crash thread are about USA.
