It's easier for foreigners to obtain Russian citizenship now?

Hey guys! according to RT, its now easier to get Russian passport even if you don't speak Russian language, and you can do your processing in any city you wish,it doesn't have to be the city you are registered to, and you don't even have to be living in Russia for 5yrs before you can apply for citizenshipt

"The document simplifies the naturalization procedure for certain groups of candidates defined by the Russian president. These people would be able to obtain Russian citizenship without passing the obligatory Russian language exam, legally residing within Russia for five years, and proving that they have sufficient income to provide for themselves."

Let wait and see, they write "Izvestia reported that it has seen the draft bill", "draft bill" is something that can change many times before it is a final bill.

There is also another law in the making.

Russia to ease citizenship procedures for foreign specialists in country for over a year

If new law passes then HQS can get citizenship in 1 year instead of 3 years.

It seems some of the tried ways don't work that well.
They should just simplify the whole process , anyone married to a Russian citizen for a number of years, say five ,can automatically apply for Russian citizenship, no language test ,etc required.

Interesting. The article says the list of "professions to be considered" is being considered. When I looked at this route to get citizenship, the qualifying professions was limited.

Maybe Russia is thinking about them? They say they are looking at Crimea and southern Russia to settle in, bring money and farming knowledge with them.
