one employee has died. 3 firefighters injured. at this moment no other news about more injuries and god forbid, more dead.
so what has changed since last week? something? anything? don't think so. and it never will!
fire started on the fourth floor. no reason was given.
    600 people were evacuated.
fire is extinguished now. no further casualties apparently.
fire apparently started up on the fourth floor where the warehouse is being situated.

Today I was at a mall near ramenki metro and there was a fire drill; anyone else seen one of those recently? It's all anecdotal but I've never seen one before in a mall in Russia. Good that officials are trying to raise fire safety awareness but the downside of course is that people become numb and complacent when there are too many drills, and then the chicken little effect comes into play
I am fascinated by Russia, this country with frigid weather, hard souls, and hot girls!

Yeah I think I saw one yesterday in my neighborhood. There was a fire truck parked outside this small mall and about 30 or 40 people standing out front. No sign of fire so it must have been a drill.

we had one here in Shuka Shopping Center, in Shukino, quite a while ago. just happened i was shopping there. they did not let me out though before i did not pay for my things. what would i have done in a real fire? throw away everything and just run? it stated quite loud and clear, both in Russian and English langauge, that this is a drill only .but one should follow the instructions.. Shuka also has 5 floors and big movie houses and kids palyground on the top floor. but it is a new shopping center with 2 escalators and wide inside staircases down. where never anything is lying around.
I also saw before yesterday, for the first time here in the park, a fire truck and teenagers all kitted out with МЧС fire dept. uniforms doing a drill. rolling out hoses, connecting them, and spraying the snow with water... from the LOOKS of it, the kids seemed to know what they were doing. lets just hope it will be never needed in real life. at least around here, most of the shopping centers are new, ground floor or one floor uponly, Leroy Merlin, Metro, Globus, Tvoi Dom and the likes. wide aisles and corridors. but i wonder how easily the safety glass on these big windows can be broken?anyone been to Globus on a Friday or Saturday, or actually any other day as well? there are thousands of people there.
