    Re-registering after leaving the country

    Hey all,

Another quick question -- do foreign citizens have to re-register every time they leave the Russia? I have a work permit and all the related paperwork -- but if I leave to Istanbul (for example) for a weekend and come back after two days, do I have to re-register again? Seems like I'd put my HR department through a ton of hassle (and money) on account of my personal international weekend trips....

Thanks for the help in advance!

If you have the qualified specialist visa you don't need to re-register.

Are you sure that you don't need to re-register?
I have a HQS visa and everytime I leave Russia, my company issues a new registration for me.
As far as I know, as a HQS you can stay 90 days without being registered.

You can but you don't need to re-register with a HQS visa. Just confirmed it recently with our visa specialist in the office.

Technically, the law on HQS is like in most Western countries, you register once within 90 days and then don't have to worry any more until you either change work or renew your work permit.

Nevertheless, my company recommends getting a new registration every now and then to have a more or less recent one just in case it's needed.

If on HQS Work Permit, you do not need to register if you stay less than 90 calendar days. But if you stay more than that you must register.

If on Normal Work Permit, you must register in 7 working days.
