    ESL qualifications

A bit of a lazy post here. Supposing I were interested in getting an ESL qualification - relatively quickly but then having something that would be widely accepted - starting from the position of having a good US degree but no experience whatsoever, what could/would people advise?

Cambridge CELTA. It takes one month to do it, and is probably the most widely accepted qualification. No experience needed, just one month free and enough money to pay the course fees and to support yourself during that month.

There are many shorter courses which offer so-called qualifications, but they are a waste of time as no one apart from the kind of people you don't want to work for accept them. If you look at any advertisement for ESL teachers, it will most probably ask for a minimum CELTA or equivalent. Generally you need a course that takes a month and gives you real face to face teaching practice during the course. CELTA is the most common one which does this, but there are others such as Trinity TESOL.

BKC-Internatinal House has a fully accredited teacher training center and regularly runs CELTA course in Moscow. Visit www.bkcih-moscow.com and you should find a senction devoted to CELTA course.
