stopped by the downtown store on the way home today, and was pleased to see a big shipment of stuff from the States up front... PopTarts, Bisquick (been out of that for a while now), blueberry muffin mix, brownie mix, etc..

pop tarts too, fruity pebble cereal 300 rbls, right in front as you walk in...

from experience I know that the other two stores, Mega Khinki and Toply Stan get the same stocks as the City store.

being more familiar with THAT brand i use at home dr.oetker...
and add butter and into the chocolate cake throw in 100 gr real chocolate or in the lemon cake some finely chopped lemon and lemon peel ( tricky because many lemons are treated with herbicides).
for emergency, why not..

not american, but the russian made hellmans it does exist in moscow, and I find it just about the same quality.

I'd like some Hellmann's for the weekend. If you can point me to somewhere that has had it on the shelves in the very recent past (i.e. you saw it no longer ago than yesterday) I'd appreciate it.

..any, not only hellmanns.
very few are now imported, to much hassles and problems. companies have set up shop here. also mayo is made local.
hellmanns traditional and provencale, super quality. only adapted for local taste, mayo is a little bit more 'tart' or 'sour'.
can find it even at the smallest kiosk and supermarket.
was at Stockmann today,customs must have relased at leat 2-3 containers, lots of new stuff and items that were long since out of stock. unfortunately with (many) of the prices rather high..
but found one thing, and that is needed for making jam now: SUGAR is 19 rubles a kilo.no supermarket sells that cheap...
and BLACK liquorice(and red) thick like a finger, just YUMMMMMMMM

Just got back from Khimki Stockmann and it was fully stocked. 3 kinds of pancake mixes (Bisquick, Aunt Jemima, Blue Bell) fake maple syrup, pop tarts, Paul Newman salsa, Old El Paso (mixes and cheese dip), Ritz, A1, Betty Crocker (cake, brownies, icing, muffins, cookies), Jiffy, Oreo, Post cereals, Nutter Butters and so on.......
