Simplified Temporary Residence via Russian Spouse

    Hi

I have a Russian Spouse (married for 5 years) I'd like to obtain temporary residency.

    1. Can this be done at a consulate or does it need to be done in Russia?

    2. What do I need to provide?

    3. As far as the medical check what do they require? If I have a couple beers in Moscow (I am assuming really that I would need to go to Moscow) is that going to ruin my medical test and bar me from temporary residency?

    4. What other pitfalls are possible?

Just a quick reply, as you'll find your questions answered in many threads on this site:

1 Unfortunately it must be done in Russia

    3 Again:

I wouldn't have a couple of beers immediately before a medical test- not least because you generally have to get to the clinic early in the morning. By all means celebrate afterwards. Each medical test you do is a hurdle out of the way, and that's worth celebrating.
4 The main pitfalls are to do with timing. For example the police certificate is valid for 3 months from its issue date, the medical certificates for (I think ) a month etc. You must submit your application before any of the documents expire. You need to familiarize yourself with the process before you start to avoid this happening.

    Good luck!

(Re the couple of drinks I was more thinking about if I grab some before the plane ride, I usually take the all nighter/red eye. I saw one summary that mentioned 'not be an alcoholic' and have no idea how Russian bureaucracy quantifies that )

My main goal is visa free travel and making sure that if something happened to our son while he was living abroad I could get there quickly.

    Ok.

    SO!

I request and FBI background check, and grab a local police one, have them apostiled.

Then I go to Russia, where my wife's family lives, and apply there?

    1. What is the cost?
    2. Do I have to live in Russia while it's all being processed?
    3. If not when does the start date for temporary residence occur?
    4. After I have temporary residence how long does it take to process citizenship?

    Also, who can translate it?

The last time we had something apostiled they insisted on having a local Russian mistranslate it.

    (Yes I said mistranslate)

Several times actually... I am married to a Russian woman, and we have a child with Russian citizenship.

From my understanding having spoken with a few Russian attorneys there is no minimum length of stay required to get the temporary residence permit if you have a Russian spouse, I do not understand the need for your derision.

All I am trying to do is make sure if my son is abroad for 3 months and something happens I can get there quickly.

Right - I am sure in theory, everything is easy. Anyways, from what I understand, after you get the temp rez, you can't leave Russia for the first year or so - after that - if you want to leave, you have to apply for an exit visa....after 3 years, you can apply for full rez, but as far as I understand, you still have to apply for the exit visa - and that takes 2-3 weeks.

So, as I see it, you still have to get a visa - either to enter Russia, or to leave Russia.

If you are only worried about a 3 month period - maybe it would be better just to get a 1 year multi-entry biz visa ?

Having a Russian wife or a child doesn't bring any benefits visa-wise... cept maybe if you are from the CIS....

XSnoofovich- just a couple of corrections:

You don't have to have lived in Russia for any defined period of time before you apply for TRP. All you need is the documents, plus a visa that allows you to be in Russia at the time of application. It could be a tourist visa, private visit visa, business visa, work visa...

Once you have temporary residence you can leave Russia as often as you want, and as soon as you want, as long as you stay more than half of each year in Russia. You have to have an exit visa- this costs 1000 rubles, takes 10 days to get, and is multi-use. It lasts for the whole period of the TRP.

Once you get permanent residence you don't need any visas.

I have been following this thread with interest, but with all the interpretations flying back and forth, I am still confused.

But yes, I'd like to ask also in what ways your agency is of help, and can we do any visa process with you online (meaning business, tourist, or similar), as I am seeking to work in Russia once again within the next 3 months, God willing.

    visa

For TRP going thro an Agency like ours advantages are as follows:
    • While the procedure on paper is straightforward - it can be very time consuming with numberous documents to translate/ and submit personally
We allocate a named person from our company who you can consult daily to monitor progess of your application.

You are personally escorted to Express System of medical checks with various clinics.
Most important: If we are not successful to succeed with your TRP =we shall not charge any money = except what we have reimbursed to the authorities.

We also supply ME Business Visa . (WE do not cater for tourist visa)

We can also supply Rep Company Work visa for 1 year = where 90/180 day rule DOES NOT apply. You can stay in Russia 365 days a yea.

    For more info PM me

I will soon enough, and thank you kindly for this info. I will also ask other things because I wish to get some issues cleared up before the new school year begins, time when I wish to be there personally , I hope.

How long have you guys been doing this?
