    Things to do for the over 40s

    I note that most of the posts advising places to go for nightlife are focused on 20-30 year olds. Any recommendations for the over 40s?

    If you mean nigh clubs, in Moscow they are very different, thus people over 40 y.o attend them with pleasure as well (mix of different ages).

    Just a short list:

    1. 16 ton;
    2. Zapasnik;
    3. Forte (Jazz);
    4. Music town;
    5. Gogol (mix from 18 y.o up to ....)
    6. Sexton
    7,8,9,9,10

    In Russia people of different ages mix more freely than in the tight spinctered U.S., if that's where you're from. So it's not unusual to see a guy with a woman significantly younger than him, and following this, it's usual to find mixed age crowds throughout Moscow.

    So go where you like and don't be complexed by your ripe old age...

    There's usually quite a bit of action going for the over 40s around Victory Day ....

    Well, I'm staying in tonight to trim my nostril hairs.

    We do NOT!

    I'm well over 40 [ahem].

    I found in Moscow I was running with a largely 30-something crowd. Some of whom are not even 30 (I'm going to a 30th birthday party for one in June). I was old enough to be their mother.

    And no one cared.

    The only Russian man who ever kissed me . . . and I mean KISSED me . . . was born in 1975.

    Hahaha MAE you rule!

    I agree with MAE. Also Tvadim's selection is good. I am over 30 and go to all kinds of different clubs. You should come to Papas on Wednesday there is a crowd of different ages always. Yesterday at our table the youngest one was 29 and the oldest around 60. I also like Gogol, and yes Krizis Zhanra (it is getting old isn't it), a lot of my friends who are around 40 go to We are Family. And there is also a great amount of bars with music. Oh this Jazz/Blues Bar at Taganka is quite cool.

    Speaking of the BD party .... do you have your costume yet?

    And what is it about that kissing ... you didn't cheat on me did ya?

    I wanted to be an archeologist as a kid, so I suppose it will be easy enough to create a costume. Indiana Jones-esque.

    Oh, the kissing? He kissed me. It was a very funny evening because I was basically ignoring him (he was clearly WAY out of my league) and this apparently made me fascinating. Not only did he beg me to continue the evening at a club (we were at a gallery opening), but instead of the cheek-kiss thing when I declined and left, he planted one right on my mouth.

    It did not convince me to stay, but it definitely made me laugh the whole way home.

    I'll send you a note via FB, and you can see him there. He's very cute. I've never seen him since, and I even "unfriended" him. And he "friended' me again. So I let him sit there.
