    Anti-spamming measures, Newbies please read!!!

In the last weeks or even months, the forum has been flooded with spammers. We, mods and admins have tried to keep as many of these spammers out of your sight, as well as their spam messages.

However, spammers turn to new tricks, such as making more or less fake introductions and posting often useless comments in threads. Often, their posts and profiles contain links to gambling, porn and commercial websites. Internally, we have started calling them "Zombies", users that seem to be alive at first, but in fact are only here to spam.

In order to put a stop to this, some parameters on this site have changed. This has some influence on the amount of posts you need to make before:
    - posting links to websites
    - send/reply to PMs
    - some other features.
In other words: as a Newbie, before you can use all features, you will have to stick around for a while and be active on the forums.

Creating a nice introduction thread and joining in on a few discussions on the forums should get you beyond the post limit in no time!

What I'd like to know is why my ad was stamped with "SpamBlock" ! I've been on this site for 4+ years, I post here from time to time (I don't post for the sake of posting but when I have something to say or ask or sell, about every 6 months). So why is a simple iPod sale labeled as SPAM: you are scaring potential customers away. WHY?

I'm not sure the site even wants spam reported actually, I got to see a remark like this when trying to help the mods mop up some porn that
was posted by a n00b a moment ago...

I CAN NOT MAKE A LISTING IN "LESSONS" category

I am not a spammer...but i can not make a listing in "lessons" category. Please suggest what can i do to make a post there finally. When i try to post i receive a message that i can not make a listing if i have less that 5 recent posts! Why is that?? I tried to make a few posts but they do not appear untill moderator approves.. i posted 3 days ago. Still not approved. And it was a NORMAL post, not spam. So please tell me how can i get OUT of this damn circle !??? It drives me mad and i already wanted to delete my profile from the website which i like so much - READING but not writing! Can't i only read? I joined your site more than 6 years ago. Why you descriminate your old member?

Problems with logging-in from the main page

    Dear Sirs.

It looks like there is some kind of bug on the main page http://www.expat.ru

On this page I'm permanently asked to log in.
I press "enter" and nothing happens: I'm still asked to log in.

On the same time, my login and password are pretty well recognised at .../forum/... (as you can see, I'm posting here without any problem) .

Absolutely agreed! The "sellers" of electronics are especially bad - not only spammers, but fraudulent criminals. It would be worth reporting their IP addresses to the Police too.

I've had the same problem since I joined this forum three or more years ago. I get round it by having the forum as my default address (i.e. I can get straight to the forum without going through the title page, and can log in right away). I've never got around to asking why I can't log in through the main page, but now someone else has raised the issue, how about enlightening us administrators?

    anti-spam strategy

hmmm - the forum is obviously attractive cos there are lots of members now

maybe asking new people to call or skype you for a something (? a onetime passcode for first log in).

or asking them to give a skype ID or messenger ID or phone number that is always responded, would also help

Many members don't want to give out too much info..99% of members don't have a problem with the 5 post rule.
