I missed you! Spent 10 days back home, took some time off (though it still doesn't count because I was "called" back for a meeting). Needed that vacation. Oh boy did I need it. Recharged the "Nice and Fluffy" batteries, and am back to cuddly Ghost once again.

Now, I know that many of you guys have been here for years. Some haven't been home since the Steelers won the Super Bowl, but this was the longest time I had not been home, and it took a toll on me. Interesting, though, being back. Stuff I noticed:

Fat People Everywhere - I never realized how fat everyone in the states is. It's REALLY out of control. Whereas you can walk around in a shopping mall in Moscow and get neck pains from all the times you turn to check out a woman with a nice body, it is completely opposite in the US. Sure, NYC has some really nice looking women, but for the love of God's green earth, the majority are just overweight. Russia wins by far.

Customer Service - Ordered dinner in a restaurant, didn't taste good, sent it back. Manager came by and offered to pay for my appetizer in apology. Sales clerks waiting on me in various stores searched high and low for other stores in their chain that might have the item I wanted. Grocery baggers in supermarkets. Smiles. Friendly people everywhere - yes, even in NYC. Forgot how nice that is. America wins.

Buying clothes - Bought about $300 worth of shirts and other summer clothes. Would have cost me well over $1000 for the same stuff in Moscow, and for no reason. Oh sure, people claim Branding and Quality, but truth be known, the stuff I got is some of the best quality. Nice casual summer shirt from Men's Warehouse - $39.99 Same item in Stockmans or Atrium or Tverskaya - $99. Shoes, same thing. Excellent Bostonian stuff, half the price as it would be here. And I don't give a damn if they're not Italian. America wins.

Bars and Nightclubs - Hung out in New Jersey (because that's where my parents live) and went to some clubs with friends. Everything closes at 1:30 AM. Forgot how stupid that is. Here in Moscow, nothing gets started until 1:30AM. By 1:30AM, my friends were yawning and ready to call it quits. Even in NY, where bars close at 4:30, half the people are gone by 2. Only thing about NY bars is no smoke - which I love. Other than that, Russia wins.

Price of Gas - Holy Expensive Oil prices, Batman! $2.56 a gallon? Are you mad? Russia wins.

Yep.

Yankee is a lurker. I think I'm one of the only people here ever to meet him.

And Sir Gay, no drink night tonight. We need a night off, it's becoming too regular and people get too bored of 'em. Gotta keep the novelty. :)
