a wonderful collection.. particular interest the red bus in 'Улица Горького в Москве, 1966' with what appears to be a trailer. never seen such weird contraption. also any ideas of similar archive of early to mid 90's. newbies here cant even begin to believe what moscow was like so few years ago. the wild east.

such beautiful historically captured moments. I look at the photos and then at what it has transformed today and i can just say that it's amazing.

Breathtaking pictures.

That taxi driver in Listvianka (it's on Baikal, not far from Irkutsk) looks like a man from 1880s or even earlier. ;-)

The same idea crossed my mind. Why not? Remember that film "When the trees were big"?

hazelnut

AndreyS

A little girl lost her parents during the war. Well after the war she works in a collective farm and it's more or less ok with her. Some con-artist (played by Nikulin) is advised to get in touch with her posing as her lost father... Etc. etc.

oh, as you told I've recollected something... Nikulin, indeed! that must be a touching movie.
you're not going to tell now that you're my father after all, are you?.. for, you know, I may not refuse one more father if he's well off and caring...:devilish:

It is touching.

I see you are in good moods today! ;-)
So get it: I don't mind being your sugar daddy! Considering you look extremely beautiful wearing your uniform on your av.!

Aha, daddy. Sounds hopefully.
I ve been to Tuchkovo. And the day is nice. I was walking here in Moscow with one British girl. We popped in the Museum of Decorative and Folk art. It turned out to show some Russian (furnitured) flats dating back to 30s, 40s, 50s 60s and 70-80s. (It was her idea not mine). Saying this we getting back more or less to the topic.

But smb who uploaded the film on youtube - where did he find it? Those films seem to be costing an arm and a leg...

I guess it was pirated from a commercial re-release of the film, because there at least 5-6 different copies of exactly the same clip on YouTube... I tried to find the cleanest copy, without stupid background music.

How many locations in the film (well, except obviously for the Kremlin) could you identify? :)

I also thought it must have been stolen from somewhere.

How many places to identify? Let me re-play it first. ;-)

And btw I find extremely interesting in such films or old photos not only places we could recognize, but people, their faces, clothes, gestures etc. Trying to catch their feelings...Finding they were living their lives like us despite their very different epoch.

Look: smb takes your photo today and hopefully smb will be looking at your face and thinking of you sometime later, say in 2250... Isn't that breathtaking, TT?

your own descendants will most probably be looking at your photos from time to time, if there is a dusty album of them lying around. I look at my grand and grand-grandparents pictures when I'm home, find it most amusing and thrilling to think of them, what they were like, what were the places like at their time. it is indeed, breathtaking :wavey:, so if you wanna them know what you were like and what the times were like just make sure you leave something behind, at least pictures.

Maybe it is me, but aside from a slight change in the dress and perhaps some Soviet era propoganda, I am not sure that I notice the difference from today. I think I was actually in that coupe' just a week ago.
