Other top clubs should follow Villa's lead.It goes to show that there are some people in football who care about others. I can't see the Lpool owners doing something like this..

I've always had a lot of time for Aston Villa and particularly so since their former Chairman 'Deadly' Doug Ellis sold out. This gesture is another reason to add to the list of why I like Villa. The list now reads as follows -

1) Their owner's name is Randy Lerner. He sounds like a porn movie star.

2) The last time Aston Villa beat Manchester United in the League was in the 1995/96 season. Thanks for the points lads.

3) Manchester United have appeared in 12 FA Cup semi-finals at Villa Park and have never lost there. It's a very lucky hunting ground for United.

4) Liverpool are reported in today's newspapers as going to table a bid of Pds 14 million for Gareth Barry. That seems a tad too expensive for Rafa to spend on bringing another defensive midfield player to Anfield. What Liverpool need is some creativity in centre midfield seeing as it looks like Alonso is off to Juventus.

5) Villa's gesture regarding shirt sponsorship as mentioned in Judge's original post.

It may have quietened down between Hicks and Gillette over the past couple of weeks, but the way they're running your club it more likely that you'll be begging the 'Big Issue' to sponsor you next season.
