Alright, this post is going to make me slightly unpopular. But, as Chris Rock once said - "That's right, I said it. It needed to be said and I said it."

The Expat Nights are truly a blast. We have a great time, everyone meets new faces, and - for the most part - everyone is a true pleasure to hang out with.

Some of you (a small group - and I will not mention names) have a purely and seemingly incurable condition I like to call "Woe-is-me-idas". Your self-loathing and self pity has carried over and made you into a mean spirited and angry person. I tried to be pleasant to several individuals on Friday night, and these individuals responded with harsh, unkind and just plain mean commentary. And I'll tell you this: You're so God damn lucky I just didn't stop the whole show just to go off on you in public. The next time it happens, I'm going to make a public example of you, and I promise - you're going to never, ever want to return to the public Expat community.

Now, that being said - I don't want to be a jerk. I'm fully capable of it, but don't wish to be one. So please, whatever "chip" you have on your shoulder that causes you to act this way at Expat nights, I'm asking you - pleading with you - leave it at home. I (and many others) have had enough of it.

This message is not directed to any particular person (though I could easily do so). It just is. You either heed the advice, or take it to the next level with confrontation. I'm offering you the grace of anonymity. Be wise, and take it.

-Ghost

PS. I hate messages like this. 95% of the people out on Friday night were 150% awesome. And it was by far, the best night yet.

Of course it wasn't you, bro. The same people guilty of last Friday are guilty of acting this way almost every Friday.

The crankiest people I saw Friday night was that convention of Turkish undertakers, not the expats.

Who invited those Gloomy Gus's to our party?
Let's not have them back.

But you deserve thanks for putting these parties together.

THANKS!

What actually happend? Was there a possibility for a pub roll?? I had to work on fridays and sundays for the last month, its a good cure against misbehaving on the expat gettogethers:D

Pub crawl!!! That's the best goddamn idea you've ever had, Jet.

MM, your Mr. Organizer, Esq. We could get discounts and t-shirts and start at like 7 am on a sat!!!! Woo-hoo!

Ghost
17-05-2004, 10:43
Don't think that's what Jet had in mind.

But regarding such an idea, it's hard enough to get folks to go to one place let alone 5. Can you imagine the face control crap we'd have to deal with?

Kniga said it before - herding cats is impossible.

The train's the best option, I think. Moscow hotel is about $120 for double occupancy. Train tickets are about $50. We can do the overnight train, leaves at midnight.

I've heard of something in London wherein you drink one pint of beer at every stop on the circle line. IE: Start at Boar House, drink one pint, you have 10 mins to drink it. Then get on circle line, head to next station, get out, find first bar, order beer, drink, etc. Until you've gone around the whole circle. Fun?
