Just moved to Moscow and dont speak Russian. Can someone recommend a pub where there would be Expats that speak English?

Molly Gwynns on Noviy Arbat does, usually Brits there early doors. many stay all evening.

Otherwise watch the threads here. there is an expat mixer tonight at 16 Tons near 1905 Metro which Roxy was publicising. suggest you either PM her or search through the threads this week- you'll find it.

Hey there!

I was told about Silvers on Tverskaya. I stopped in once just for a minute - not bad :)

I'll second Silvers...nice, small place. Mostly Brits and Irish and a good place for typical pub food.

And it is really easy to get to if you aren't familiar with the city yet...just off Red Square.

So from the bottom of Tverskaya with RedSquare behind you - where is it?

Go up to the corner on your left with the casino...past the Ritz. Turn left and go down about 100m. Small green door frame on your left.

If I could remember the street neam i would give it to you...but as you are going up Tverskaya you pass the Ritz, then La Cantina, then the casino on the corner.

I found this online:

Silver's (Tverskaya Ulitsa, #5/6 (entry from Nikitsky Pereulok), metro Okhotny Ryad. tel: 290-4222. Open Sun-Thurs: 8:00-0:00, Fri-Sat: 10:00-4:00). A word-of-mouth establishment that has long served as a meeting place to hear "the latest", not too mention a hangout known for its cold beer and good Russian meals. Styled after a typical Irish Pub, Silvers has everything you could imagine except for the rowdy atmosphere. A stand-out in Moscow for it's unheard of friendly staff; you may forgo dinner at a fancy restaurant for the comfortable surroundings of Silver’s. It won’t be the first time. Need we say more? Good food and cheap beer make this pub a mainstay for the visitor as well as the expat or business man or woman.

I mentioned this blog (http://moscowdoesntbelieveintears.blogspot.com/2007/06/mappin-around.html)in another thread . . . here she discusses bars/pubs. Might be a place to start if her opinion is any good.

I'm not either of those myself...but I have always ended up talking to some others while there if I wanted to.

That Irish pub in old arbat is sh**. It doesnt even have menus in English and is expensive as hell. I ordered buffalo wings once for 300 RUB and only got 3!

Yes, it should be AM...they have a breakfast menu so the 8 during the week is definitely AM!

Regardless, I'll be there around 10:30 so introduce yourself if you are there.
