View Full Version : Two main freedom restrictions

A few people said that money is a main source of freedom.

I view money is a main trapper. Once you have got some along with a certain social status and benefits, you are trapped , for you will want more.

This sort of human greed is insatiable. You can't throw money up when you get too much, because there is never enough.

Love is also a negative factor. It slows man down. When he falls for a woman, he becomes a prisoner of love. Can he fly away whistling like a lucky bird??
Fortunately, love can't last forever.
Most men are wise enough to know what freedom is :

No hidden catch, no strings attached....

However, there is a poll.

All true, Alethea - more you have, less you`ve got. ;-)))) And as for the lovely ladies, ahhh - fall for the right one. Or you`ve had it. ;-))))))

I disagree.

When you have a certain amount, it facilitates your life, of course unless your a greedy stingy git.

Me, I used to care a lot about making money, now I care about life and family and friends, I still work 14 hours a day 6 days a week, but not really for the money, more for my families and my security and fututre.

Money attracts money, the secrete is control it, don't be controlled by it...

The poll divided the voters in two groups.
One contains the money lovers and the other - just lovers.

Gypsy king said:

*Don't love money - they will deceive you
Don't love women - they will cheat on you
Love freedom only*

And freedom means a good horse for gypsies;)

Bill Gates has enough money.

I think you only need enough money to ensure you can get up and leave a situation whenever you like. It's for the freedom. If you are obsessed with money you're just as enslaved as when you're broke.

As for girls and love. What would be the point of existence without them:p

Trouble is, most people make enough to pay the rent and bills, no more - so they`re trapped, no matter what. "Monthly salary slaves". Sometimes, you`ve got to bite the bullet.

Alethea

Yeah,
being broken is temporary, being poor is a state of mind.

Alethea, everyone wants comfort of some kind. Problem is that, occaisionally, life HAS to be uncomfortable to make any progress..... if you`re working all the hours there are, then there`s no time to look for something new. If you can`t get a days` holiday, you`re not going to get an interview, and if most people say, "Oh, I`ll just save up some money and wait for something to come along....... "............. a year can go without them knowing it. Life is *being alive* - it`s a story, so it might as well be an interesting one. ;-))))) Getting trapped by anything is not the ideal situation. ;-)))))

to love yourself - shag the person who loves you more than you do, so you'll love them even more for their exquisite taste....

I love money, but unfortunately it's an unrequited desire

Bitch!

What a beautiful symmetry!

This poll is creeping slowly, like a caterpillar.

can't stand money winning this one...

if you love the bird, you let it fly. if you enjoy watching while it flies away, you know you have experienced love and the true freedom that comes with it. after that you'll never give a damn about money, at least if you can pay the bills...

so, can there be enough money? of course, it all depends on the personal level of greedness.

negative factor? slows men down? sounds like sex, not love ;)

can't last forever? of course it can't. but it can last until you die. good enough for me.

hidden catch? strings attached? mmm, like jimi would say "is this love or confusion?"

Well you guys can put me down in the love camp.

I figure you can either try and aim at material wealth and organise the love life to fit around that, or you can aim at love and try and organise the finances around that. Perhaps I am sick but part of me still reckons there are still moments when a woman (or man if thats your thing) can completely override any thoughts of money needed, wanted or useful though this may be, whereas no amount of money would create a situation where the the woman would be that irrelevant.

People who drop everything to come to Moscva for a woman definitely fit in the second category.

Love is a universal migraine,
A bright stain on the vision,
Blotting out reason.
(Robert Graves 1895 -1985)

I agree with the 4th statement. Also in the love camp, a dreamer...

Robert Burns

1793 Song

O poortith cauld, and restless love,
Ye wrack my peace between ye;
Yet poortith a' I could forgive,
An 'twere na for my Jeanie.

Chorus-O why should Fate sic pleasure have,
Life's dearest bands untwining?
Or why sae sweet a flower as love
Depend on Fortune's shining?

The warld's wealth, when I think on,
It's pride and a' the lave o't;
O fie on silly coward man,
That he should be the slave o't!
O why, &c.

Her e'en, sae bonie blue, betray
How she repays my passion;
But prudence is her o'erword aye,
She talks o' rank and fashion.
O why, &c.

O wha can prudence think upon,
And sic a lassie by him?
O wha can prudence think upon,
And sae in love as I am?
O why, &c.

How blest the simple cotter's fate!
He woos his artless dearie;
The silly bogles, wealth and state,
Can never make him eerie,
O why, &c.

We need both: money – to feel more or less free and love to be happy!
All we are doing in our life – we are doing in the name of LOVE (even earning money)!
Who cares about freedom and what is it? Human being is not free by its nature.

and are loved.........you have something priceless beyond the values and inhibitions created by wealth...

It is the poverty of the soul which corrupts those with or without...$$$$$$$$$$$'s... the desire to commodify everything into a comfortable little box.. acquire self through career... family... friends... brrrrbrrr

self through anything beyond what and who you are..... ahhhhhh

Get me some drugs... ooops, I am on drugs!!

Duh
:p

Freedom is..... unatainable.

What do we have it’s an illusionary freedom and a nice word…

What is - freedom? We have a free will to do something or not to do…but when we are making decisions – we are dependant, always dependant on many factors. First of all we depend on our way of thinking that we are getting by birth. Lots of various factors exert influence on us from the beginning and then – hello, - here we are thinking we are free…noooo, we are not!

The idea of “freedom” is imposed on us and it manipulates us – the more we are thinking about freedom, the more we are dependent ;)

I think it is not by chance, that Alethea has chosen love and money as two constraints to the Freedom.

One simple thing should be kept in mind- humans, being social beings, are comforted, when they are appreciated by others. The appreciation comes in love and money, any of which also mean responsibilities. Contrarily, I content, absolute freedom means absence of responsibilities, which is not for good of any human being, as it breaks ties with other people around.

Thus, absolute freedom is an evil for any of us. Other thing, that one should distinguish means and ends. In this respect, I opt for love, money being only means for self-realization.
