Cat owners appear to have a much lower risk of dying from a heart attack than their feline-spurning counterparts, a study suggests.
Researchers looked at nearly 4,500 adults and found that cat ownership was related to a 40% lower risk of suffering a fatal heart attack.

So if a person owns 2 cats, they are 80% less likely to die from a heart attack, and if he owns 3, 120% less likely :)

What about people who own ferrets?

Now there is a damn fine question !

Or penguin owners for that matter - think this article is very biased to cat owners !

Say honesty - do you have a cat or a ferret?

Ferrets?

Yes ferrets.

My friend raised them and kept them in his house.

They have a strong smell or should I say stink.

I had three cats and they were very clean. If you clean the cat box and use enough litter you won't smell them.

I've had people come to my house and say "I can't believe you have three cats and it doesn't smell.

They were brother and sisters. He was fixed, they all slept in a big pile and played together.

I would never own one cats, they get lonely all day in the house by themselves.

This friend with the ferrets brought one to my apartment, and every morning it came upstairs and bit my girlfriend on the foot, yes went right under the blanket and bit her. So I took an American Barn Cat from another friend. Do you know the cat I mean? It has double paws. He took the ferret back to his mom's house.

Ohh you had a cat with thumbs?!

I like orange boy cats the best. Last summer a friend called and said she had a kitten. "If it's an orange boy, I will take it!" I said.

"Oh, yes!" she said. "He's orange."

No, he's not. He's not even this cute anymore. But his ears are cleaner.

No an American Barn Cat, black and white with double paws. Meaning 10 claws on all four paws. They're not as big as a coon cat about the same size as a regular cat.

Yes I know ferrets are viscous. Been bit more then a few times.

I forget we gave him back when the ferret left.

We called them barn cats but they're known as polydactyl cats.

Very cute.

Mine is gregarious, at least. Not a shy bone in his body. But he's not very cuddly.

Mr. Elk bought himself a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of the Kremlin at night. And El Cat-o took great delight in knocking competed sections off the table. I think Mr Elk almost wept in frustration.

So today, we hate him (Cat-o).

1. How about sibling rivalry? It's a real thing at least among birds'' chicks, you know.
2. My cat never gets lonely even when I am on business trips for two days... She meets me at the door bright and breezy purring and mewing. I have never had a catsitter! ;-)

Bombardiaki (Slovak for "very stretchy underwear")
Pickles

Slightly off topic, my kids always had cuddly toy animals. the eldest two would give them names, Mischa was a bear for example.

Youngest one never named her toys, even from very very young - she had Bear, Donkey, Lion etc In fact she has taken Bear with her to college in Spain. He is the only survivor.
