-Protesters-? this is scum, the worst there is. and should be treated by the police as such. burning, looting, smashing cars and shop windows has nothing to do with protest. Time that the law wakes up there and as Macrow vows, take action. but it does not help much when the police catch them. and the next shyster lawyer and a corrupt judge let them go again. and again and again. to bad -Papillon- Island is no more. Might be a good alternative for quite a few of them!

Apart from standing up against invaders, violent protesting against their own government is a French national sport; they are world leaders in such political activity!

Sometimes you need to smash up things to get your way when protesting, just marching and chanting low fuel taxes ,then heading home, isn't going to change anything, even if there were 500000 on the streets.
A million were on the streets in London protesting the Iraq war, nothing done, the UK still went to war, 500000 few months ago in London protesting Brexit, nothing.
I'm not sure if you remember the UK poll tax riots in 1990? Thatcher tried to put a new tax on the people and all hell broke loose.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o98_hia8tA

from wiki,

The riot in central London did much to contribute to the downfall of Margaret Thatcher,[citation needed] who resigned as Prime Minister on 28 November the same year. The national opposition to the poll tax (especially vehement in the north of England and Scotland) was the major factor; an opinion poll had found 78% opposed to it.[13] John Major, who succeeded Thatcher, announced that the tax would be abolished.

Let's see closer to Brexit, if the UK masses go out again on the streets.

they are doing it completely wrong. the scum who are burning, smashing, breaking in and looting, have only their own interests in mind. let the protesters, peacefully, occupy the CITY, sit on the Tower Bridge so it can not open for traffic to pass. disrupt but do not destroy business. keep the Bentleys and Rollses and Merces of the Fat Cats from going to their banks and nice offices. barikade entry to the stock exchange. peacefully with TV all over the place. everyone has an iPhone, a camera, send PEACEFULL pictures out to the world. for a few days, a few weeks, hit the - Pfeffersäcke- where it really hurts them. At their business! and than and only than Madame May will have to react and so something. Rioting will bring nothing but teargas, water cannons and hate. Hate from the -locals- for they will and ARE blaming all the immigrants for all the woes that ail England. But to do that one needs leaders with a will and charisma. that for sure is missing over there. they do not have one. so it is just everyone against everyone and everything.

I disagree, your way would lead to nothing, look at what's happened now, Macron is meeting with the protests groups, before he just brushed them off.
This was a one day protest, on a Saturday like last week, then it's back to work, now they have sent a strong message , deal now or next Saturday will be much worse.

Macron will send his PM to meet the groups, it's better to talk than to have more riots.

Take the UK, if we are to believe the experts, the UK is head for financial ruin, mass unemployment, etc. do you think 1 million people waving banners and blowing whistles will change anything?

No, the problem is from the anti-Brexiters.

As usual, the Left resorts to violence when they don't get their way, when they can't legislate in opposition to the will of the people, or get some judge to decree the people's will is illegal or unconstitutional, they start throwing rocks and shooting people.

Macron is the problem. He is a "True Believer". After the Tokyo Summit last year on Climate Change and Fossil Fuel use, all the world's leaders promised to do something to address these so-called "problems."

But all the leaders knew this was just a dog-and-pony show, so they all made their promises and they all went home, felling real good, and none of them did a thing when they got home.

Except (Emmanuel the Enlightened) Macron, the True Believer, who raised the price of gasoline to $7/gallon to discourage this use of fossil fuel, and stated there would be further increases.

Now the Middle Class in France is saying, "What the heck? Why us? Why are you taxing us, the people who supported you?"

I think Macron is even less popular than Petro the Pure. :)

Not all people who act violently against oppressive forms of government are necessarily scumbags. Violence is often justified - 1960's USA, the 2008 Occupy Movement, 1980's Occupied Territory, 1980's South Africa, 2013 Maiden, and of course, Putin's Russia.

The ability of a nation to engage with dissent rather than suppress and imprison opposition speaks to a nation's political evolution.

The last sentence is true. The examples you cite are the converse. And you don't cite any validating examples - such as the effort by the Washington establishment (all the way to the former White House) and the intelligence agency Deep State to alter the 2016 voting result and afterwards to overturn this legitimate presidential election.

I think that most US of A Police Officers will start from a position of ' This person is probably armed and could pose a threat' so the Police Officer from the start is approaching the situation in a heightened state of alert with Adrenalin pumping through the veins.......

Even when pulling somebody over for running a red light etc, the US of A Police Officer usually approaches the car safely from the rear at a good angle and with his / her hand on the pistol butt / holster strap.......

wonder who is doing the statistics there? it is from THEIR site, which is being done supposedly so, by the people who squeal every day how dangerous Russia is. and how many journalists were being killed and murdered and what have you. I mean if they can not even get their act togehter? or do they count a -journalist- somethign differently what we do here in Russia?

https://cpj.org/data/killed/?status=Killed&motiveConfirmed%5B%5D=Confirmed&type%5B%5D=Journalist&typeOfDeath%5B%5D=Murder&sourcesOfFire%5B%5D=Government%20Officials&localOrForeign%5B%5D=Local&localOrForeign%5B%5D=Foreign&gender%5B%5D=Nonbinary&employedAs%5B%5D=Staff&jobs%5B%5D=Print%20Reporter&coverages%5B%5D=Corruption&mediums%5B%5D=Print&cc_fips%5B%5D=RS&start_year=1992&end_year=2018&group_by=year

try it yourself maybe with different parameters? not there is anything there that does it worse than the ones that I have selected. and the result was zero-null-nichts- keiner. Sttistics and graphics for me are one more reason NOT to trust them or take them for what they are beign published. the truth they are supposed to be...

Under Putin, Wiki says there are a few, like 2-5 murders per year, of journalists, a vast improvement from Yeltsin's years. In the US, the cops are becoming more belligerent every year.

You don't read news, you read Progressive propaganda.

Obviously, if the story is not mentioned, how are you supposed to know what to look for?

On Yahoo "news" - nothing, nada, zilch on their splash page. On their "international news" page, it's the 28th story from the top. From AFP, it's a hit piece on the demonstrators - what the reader is supposed to feel, that the demonstrators are wrong, and murderers, etc.

On Google "news" - nothing, nada, zilch on their splash page. On their "international news" page, it's the 16th story from the top. Again, more hit pieces attacking the demonstrators, nothing on their complaints.

This is a Trump-style uprising of white males (that's all I see demonstrating on Ruptly) against the Progressive policies of Macron. They are simply fed up with bomb-throwing bigoted immigrants, homosexual preferential treatment and other anti-French traditional mores being eradicated, their biased media, and being called 'racist" every time they disagree with the usurpation of their culture.

Now the media is trying to delegitimatize the protest, and if that is not successful to co-opt it, to label it as a "color revolution" of the Left against a too-conservative government. Ludicrous, but the Left never gives up, and they control the media.

The fact that another country is undergoing Trump-inspired uprising, is anathema to the media, and the real story is perverted or banned.

"...For over a month now, the gilets jaunes (or “yellow vests”), a multiplicitous, leaderless, extremely pissed off, confederation of working class persons, have been conducting a series of lively protests in cities and towns throughout the country to express their displeasure with Emmanuel Macron and his efforts to transform their society into an American-style neo-feudal dystopia.

The English-language corporate media, after doing their best not to cover these protests (and, instead, to keep the American and British publics focused on imaginary Russians), have been forced to now begin the delicate process of delegitimizing the gilets jaunes without infuriating the the entire population of France and inciting the British and American proletariats to go out and start setting cars on fire. "

This is definitely NOT your snowflakes, and it's NOT inspired by Russia bots, and it's NOT engineered by the US Deep State.
