maybe admin should call it a day and do a - around the Home, Garden and Dacha - site?
after all fewer and fewer people are inclined or interested to answer awkward questions about their live and work. private or other.
though more and more -expats- stay here, are married with kids, cats, house and dogs... and for sure such a site could help to answer questions people have?

If you've been keeping notes down the years, you'd know everything there is to know about Mr Raz and Sir Vossy, from the type of gun they prefer to use to how they met their wife.

I think there are practical limits to how personal we want to get, even if some of us have a fair deal of respect for each other over the years. It's not unthinkable, and in fact has happened, as I recall, that a person has had personal information obtained on this site used against them.

I'm an English teacher, love what I do, I have four kids and a pretty good marriage that has had its share of trouble yet we've survived it. I'm an immigrant, not going anywhere. What else do you want to know?

and THAT would interest me, how one of my photos got there. because i definitely did not put it there. by the way, i can not access anyway any of these sites. not dark, neither the deep web. they recommend i should use a VPN which i do not have, want or need. maybe for InterNation it would be useful sometimes. but who wants to contact me, knows where i can be found...
and the moment i click on a link, the - can not be accessed - from my provider comes on.... so, i will never know...

Forgive me for what is perhaps a naive question, but are people worried about the Russian or American government using things against them? Does anyone know someone who has had bad things happen?

Oooooh, nevermind. This section is like a really weird sub-category. I was just casually browsing and hadn't read the sticky. I can see why people might feel a bit awkward answering questions that might come up. Still, it could be a good icebreaker to get people to open up a little.

This whole website is interesting in how many unusual features it has. I've never been a member of a forum where there are "thank you's" and such. It's not bad but takes some getting used to.

It's more like new members who might be off their meds or something, although right now there are no weirdo's posting. Actually most of the posters here are weirdo's (just kidding!) :)

I used to have, in my signature, a link to my website selling my language-learning software and apps. The web site had my home/business address for orderinjg. I got into political disagreement with a new member on the forum, and then I started getting loads of pornography in my mailbox. I told the mailman where all the pervert mail originated (I live in a small village where everyone knows everyone). Anyway, I changed the signature so I won't get flaming feedback in the form of out-of-forum personal attack.

They used to have a "no thanks" button and "greenies" and "reds" but they were abused by the members with child like minds. There used to be many more people posting here, some left Russia in 2014/15 because of the ruble drop, others left because of the nastyness of some members. I joined this site in 2006 or 2007, I had a broken leg at the time. My very first post was attacked and I was called "A black ass from a worm place" by one well known member and nothing was done about it. I didn't know that forums were like that because this is the first one that I ever joined. That when the forum war started. It was explained to me that insulting people is just a normal way of life for your average office worker. They are all geeks who were made fun of their whole childhood and once they became "someone" in the office they take out all their childhood pain on their coworkers. I'm not and office worker and wouldn't last one day in an office because I wouldn't put up with some geek insulting me, they would get a good punch in the face. We still have one member here that can't disagree with someone without insulting them too. Funny enough but that member that started insulting me I found out was a fraud, lied about everything. I found this out from another member I met in real life and they told me what the guy was really like. They also told me about another member that they tried to help and he paid them back by doing something weird in front of them. Be careful of who you meet here on and off the forum. I'm talking about Americans and other foreigners. After living in Moscow for the last 25 years I've met too many that turned out to be weirdos. But then I was a musician and they are a different breed. Not saying they are normal or better just different. Russia too has changed me while it doesn't change others. I stopped watching American TV, movies and news. Americans now say I sound just like a f**king Russian guy. Many expats that live here try to cling to their old country and try to hang out with other expats mostly. I have only one American friend here and I hardly talk to him but don't get me wrong I have a lot of friends and many from all over the world, just not Americans or the other five eyes countries. Me second Russian wife asked me one time if I knew everyone in Moscow because wherever ever we went I would meet someone I know. I comes from working on stage at many of the bars in Moscow and I guess just living here and being friendly and helping others.

No, I got thick skin by working on stage. People will say the stupidest things to your face when drunk. But also they will love you and say the nicest things. I have many friends and fans that will just give me anything, take me to dinner, buy my drinks or even give up their bodies. I was homeless for a while if you remember, why I didn't eat from trash cans and had clean clothes and could take showers? Because my friends own restaurants and I actually lived and got fed from one for 5 months, all the waiters and cooks fed me and security looked out for me. My friends let me sleep at their place once in a while and let me wash clothes and take showers. When one finally found out he paid for a place for me to live for 6 months until I started making money again. The only people from expat to help me were Mud and AndreyS. That stupid ass bartender got mad at me because I didn't want to drink with him if I didn't have a place to sleep. I never drank alcohol then, but I did smoke some weed friends would give me. Oh that's the other thing, not only are you offered sex a lot but everyone wants to get you high and give you drugs. I haven't played for almost 10 years now and I can still call people and get into bars or concerts for free, get taken out for dinner, maybe that's why I never cared about money, I always just had what I needed given to me or help when I needed it. I still have very powerful friends in government, FSB, doctors, lawyers, business and millionaires. I also still have friends that are poor and artist, photographers types. Most of the people in the shops here in my new place say hi to me, and my wife commented that how the shop workers always look out for me and give me the best stuff. Last week my wife went to the Dixi here with my daughter and forgot her wallet, she was buying my daughter some bulichka and the cashier just gave it to her. When I came home we when to the shop and I tried to pay for it with the other things I was buying but she said forget it we didn't have to pay for it. You treat people well and they will treat you well back. The cashier or people working in shops are people too and we need them and should respect them, it's something geeks don't understand. I remember being in a restaurant with a American lawyer here and he talked bad about the waitress, it pissed me off. I told him right there that many of my friends were bartenders and waitresses and many of them are working while going to school or doing others things to improve their lives. I never went out with him again. Nobody is better than anyone else, no live from deserves to live more than any other, we are all equal, we will all die and we all are food for something else. Live by that and you will have a much better time in this world/reality.

In reading through the old threads, I noticed there are lots of people listed as "BANNED". What the heck did they have to do to get banned? The rules don't seem very strict here.

Some people were REALLY rude and deliberately insulting, not just differing in beliefs and ideas - they wanted to make others mad. There were other violations of rules, but that was the most common, I think.

On a slightly different note, I'm here because I had been banned from an ESL teachers' forum (Dave's Cafe) for discussing the philosophy of education and teaching, and not limiting it to techniques on how to teach the present perfect tense. I asked if it was OK to discuss philosophy and religion here, was assured that it was fine, as long as it was respectful, and have been here ever since. The days of the relatively great debates - lively and generally polite discussions between people who disagree - are mostly over, though.

Greenies were to show how well liked you were on the forum. They were given by other members and those given by members who had a lot of greenies were somehow better, your greenie line would become longer than say if someone with few of them gave you some. Same goes for reds, they would shorten your greenie line and it could get to a point where your green line turned red. But people abused the system and unfairly targeted people. Childish if you ask me. Thanks like a "like button" are used to get you more interested in posting, the more post on a site the more it can make from advertising. They make Facebook addictive just for this reason. But we know that Facebook is more a data collection business than it is a social networking site.

I don't believe they desire to make other people mad, they can't help it. The attitude of an angry person is to try to convince you they are correct by being angry at you. They justify their positions with something like "people who act like jerks make the rest of us angry." They think their expression of righteous anger will convince others of the correctness of their positions. Obviously, mostly it attracts the same sort of angry response. Whereas you post with a interested and calm attitude.

But you are right, because part and parcel of being angry is to invalidate the other person.

ESL are heavily immersed in the social sciences to get their certificates, at Snowflake University. In the social sciences - anthropology, sociology, psychology, etc. - you are force-fed the Truthъ (LOL) of the world - that man is an animal, he has no soul, etc. Discussion about or gasp! alternatives to, their dogma, is not allowed. That is why I do not take the mandated social science courses necessary to become a teacher, although I would like to be a creative writing teacher.
