who to invite for dinner
If you actually pop this question into Google it is really amazing......as I have been forced to stop the gardening due to the crazy weather patterns at the moment and cook dinner I thought I would do my version of who I would invite to dinner expat.ru style.....and I am making the rules as it is my post.....so the rules are as follows
1: Dead or alive is OK
2: Mostly alive would be mostly appreciated.
3: No hacks or paps......this is a private party :)
4: Banned people are OK
5: No politics or discussions of a sexual nature allowed....ish!

So I would invite, in no order of preference , love , admiration and downright "I want to be you" syndrome .........
So here is the Irish vote.......and once again in no order of bias or preference
So just to get this straight .......these are the people I would like to sit down with and have a nice meal and a few drinks which is something I normally just like to do with my wife !
So.....
The WOMEN
Nat....would just love to hear about the romance and the beautiful girls.....
Pen....the intrigue and the Swedish connection.....
VicY.....actually miss your inputs....
Jas.....well?

THE MEN........
TR... raconteur, how could anyone do without you...?
Rus....it's life.....
Ben ....we need someone to cook .....
Judge....we need some control....
Andy .....we need fat in the game....
Nobby....we need your nuts....
Wally....you are just so f$%^&*( crazy , you can play the drums :)
TT.....you are so educated......
RL......please come back....
If I've missed someone out , I've missed someone out ....please send your complaints to thereisnothanksbuttonanymore@ expat.ru :cold:

but need lead time at least 2 weeks in advance. while mostly days off on Mondays or Tuesdays (NEVER Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday). And it depends what functions, exhibitions, master classes we get i n.where my presence and participation is mandatory.

No you don't get it. It's not really a dinner but who you would if you could. Like say who would you invite to dinner from history?

Henry Vatel, a Chef at the French Court. He killed himself because a delivery of fish for the Kings banquet arrived late and on top the fish were smelling. Could not take the shame and blame that there were no fish on the King's table. he killed himself with his own sword. And apparently in the kitchen....would like to ask him, why didn't he kill the fishmonger....

My top 10.....
Number 1 has to be Oscar Wilde
Sergei Korolev , one of most talented and unsung engineers ever....
Anna Akhmatova , love to hear about her life in St Pete and what inspired her poetry.
Issac Newton....did that apple really fall on his head?
Homer , not Simpson:), the Odyssey was the first "grown up " book I was given to read by my great mum and is still one of my favorites...
James Joyce....who was inspired by Homer of course ,now that would be a great discussion to hear.
Marie Curie......just brilliant.
Mstislav Rostropovitch , had the luck in life to actually know the great man for a brief period and have dinner with him and his great wife Galina , one of the funniest men I have ever met with an incredible sense of humor. He would be my choice for tамада for the evening :)
Cleopatra , I have been captivated by her since our history classes as a young boy.
And last but by no means least....Frederic Chopin for a truly romantic touch :):piano:

Sorry I was out with the girlfriend getting sh!t faced! Oh boy it's been a hard morning. Can't think about historic people I would like to have dinner with right now but I understand that if you want to have a long thread here all you have to do is bring up anything closely related to food and it will take on a life of it's own.

I wound up in a nice little Georgian place last night and everything was so delicious! Even the Georgian vodka they had.
