I have just had my morning swim in The Nile in Maadi, Cairo! :p

And, yes, I kept my mouth firmly closed! ;)

Nice one!
I went to Egypt in 1994, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. Also Did Darhab and Sharm el Sheik.
Anyway, took a felluka from Aswan back to Edfu. 3 days 2 nights on the Nile. Six of us, boat full of beer and swimming in the river. Happy days!

Years ago, I did the Felucca trip into Komombo, the Krokodil Palace and then onto Luxor, Valley of the Kings by Donkey, and then train / plane to Aswan & Abu Simbel.

Cuurently, in Cairo with a few helicopter sorties into the Northern Sinai - its a god damn war zone there! ;) Mind you, Cairo is still mad, traffic mad and we had 2 Police shot on Wednesday at the Giza Pyramids (not guity!) ;)

Yes mate, sooo much more to Egypt than Hurgarda and Sharm.
In Cairo i stayed in the hotel featured in Michael Palin's, round the world in 80 days. Name slips my mind now. Amazing city to visit. One day i went out to the city of the dead on the edge of Cairo. People living in the old mausoleums in a huge cemetery. They will even invite you in to see their homes!

I think it was, old colonial hotel. I used to watch the series while working in Saudi. The bar man was a previous Mr. Universe, interesting chap..

Not the best of pics taken by the iPhone 6, but it does prove that life is cheap in Cairo!
