Guys,

i was thinking we may want to get a second chance to unwind this coming long weekend. How about Saturday, 23 Feb - no one will show up late or have to leave early - no work!!!

so far, no free beer offered, no rules and time set, no venue identified. hope you will help me - open for suggestions. any ideas? we can make it extra fun but i will definitely need volunteers to help me with the entertainment.

we are already quite a few and ready to have some good time this Sat: Miss O+1, Tara 2007, Natkin, Orion, Bambina, Elis (?), my friends and myself. Join in, bring your good mood, a mouthful of jokes, and a friend or better two.

so, what do you think?

I would't worry about that. They can get all bent out of shape because of some political arguement but if they let it carry over into all their other interactions then they just end up proving their critics right.

As an American i think hlaf teh world hates my country at any given time. Either for something we did...or something we didnt do. Seems like we can't win and there are countries/people that we make angry no matter what we choose to do. SO, the only solution I see is to carry on and let everyone be judged on their individual merits. I can get made at your governements, you can get mad at mine, and we can believe in entirely different things but I think if we sit down and talk, rather than agrue, we'll find we have more in common then we knew by any political discussion we could ever have.

I am expecting lots of arguments here, but I want to suggest the venue.
Yes, it is the place you hate for no reason - Hemingways! I think it to be fair to give a place a try, and never go there again if you hate it!

Since DJ Biscuit is a staff member both here and there, I can convince him into few special offers for the Expat.ru gang!!!

Saturday is disco night there, and new DJ`s are damn good!

Let me know if you want to try it, and I`ll arrange tables and specials.
Cheers!

How about - repeat party in the same place - HArd Rock Cafe? I think is one of the best place - talk, eat, drink, DANCE.

Your opinion?

It would be nice to show the Hardrock some appreciation for their help last week (they did put in $500) into the kitty!

I liked the place much,
but as for talking - it was a bit hard..cause of music. still music was great for dancing :devilish:
n also all the time when I was getting downstairs I feared that I would fall..down the stairs....:5387::11581::11581::11581::farout:

revisiting HRC sounds fair enough to me. can we have them make the music not so loud? i guess we might be able to find scientific evidence that loud music doesn't encourage conversation/drinking/eating, thus not helping spend :-)

Sorry to disappoint you, but it never works in disco bars. Tried to do it several times in different places, but no result.....

So get ready to shout, and practise lips reading!:o

19:00 works for me.

But I second Karumba's post about it beinging noisy...HRC works for now but in the future we'll have to explore further afield and find a good place for drinks and comradery that doesn't require shouting.

:11158: Cool, cool, I agree that it is kinda loud music, but I liked the place, so will try to come too, it is better that this time is Saturday.

Some info that (I hope) might be interesting for you.
A friend of mine, the GDirector of the B2 club (and B1 also) has an idea to 'start up' expat parties (once a week, on regular basis) at the B2 (3rd floor - jazz zone) where guests could choose party programmes even bands (let alone the loudness level;))
At least you could have a go...
The info about the club is on their site 2 --! (http://www.b2club.ru)
If you like the idea - the person/people ready to organize such gathering - pm please.

PM: Nothing bad about HRock and Hemingway's - just one more option. :11158:

IraM, thank you - it's a great proposal, indeed! i like it a lot, yet we are already quite a group of people - let us have those planning to attend to decide :-) please be aware though that this time expats might be quite few. thank you again!

whats that word mean?

Orion
19-02-2008, 18:55
'Kitty' is slang...like 'pot'...as in 'put it into the pot'. It just means 'collection' when used like that.

I think it is good you are changing location, everytime you should have a different location so that people experience more bars and clubs

i have never for instance understood why foreigners residing in one city they end up going to the same places, the joy of being a foreigner is discovering!!!

i was not myself when in moscow changing locations each week, but in 18months i could see/experience a great number of venues and this add a lot to MyMoscow

my 2 cents

Thank you, DJ and Boscoe! then we all meet 23 Feb, 7pm at Hemisngway's.

I've never been there. How do we find each other? And, are we supposed to have a forum print out this time too?

I am in +2, maybe more.

Albertina, DJ and Boscoe got us a great offer from hemingway's for this Sat, and many would love to give a go, for a change. I guess iit was premature to ask to close the tread - some are not too excited about the change of the venue. Well, let us all decide what option we can go for!

I like the idea of the party, but both options you propose are "out" in my opinion. I can understand guys from the states (no offense), but the rest of you still enjoying disco?? i dont know

Not sure what you mean? You don't have to dance... We'll have a private room so thoes not wanting the disco won't be affected by the noise too much if they don't want to be...

Where would you recommend? Maybe we could try this next time?

Personally I'm English and am not a big fan of retro or disco music, I prefer house, electro clash and Nu Rave but in Europe, London and Moscow especially retro 80's and 90's dance parties are the in thing.
