The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) warned on Tuesday of a “massive exodus and destruction” if fighting continues to escalate in eastern Ukraine.

The agency estimated that “more than 117,000 people are now displaced inside Ukraine” and “as of August 1, an estimated 168,000 people have crossed into Russia so far this year.”

No worries. Russia has plenty of room.

No worries. Russia has plenty of room.

No worries to you - you are sitting comfortably, not dispossessed, not traumatized and not living under a tent

Ukraine's loss is Russia's gain.

An influx of young families is going to do no harm to Russia's demographics, but it will leave what was already a bad situation in Ukraine's even worse.

A lot of these people will never return, as there is nothing is to return to, all the buildings and infrastructure in Donestk and Lugansk are destroyed; the industry is, which was fully orientated on Russia is destroyed and Kiev has no money to rebuild.

give them status of recognised refuge. and immediately a passport, housing, pension and medical fund and a nice pocket money allowance every month until they have assimilated, learned German,French or English.

And as we can see from the news footage it is the young, healthy and educated people who are leaving. The old are staying back. They claim, -we have nowhere to go-. So there would be no burden on the -social- funds of the countries.
No takers it seems to me.
I think many are refugees indeed, temporary, and hope in the end that they can go back home.can't uproot and replant a grown tree that easily.

the world isn't interested by this, they look at gaza rather than at Novorossya. Anyway as everybody knows, refugees are terrorists, so they are not interested people.

It's a gain for Ukraine too. It will change the demographic balance in favor of ethnic Ukrainians and lessen the chance of any of this nonsense happening again in the future.

Oh, the West is very good at raising points and sanctions, but EU's borders near Ukraine are probably as closed as a... (where is a metaphore when you need one?)...

Ukraine for ethnic Ukrainians... I've read that sentiment before... Or, was it "Germany for Germans", ca 1938?...

Or Russia for Russians, even.

So Kiev is motivated by zenophobia?

Would give a legitimate reason then for intervention.

Interesting recent developments:

The Kremlin is now focussing their statements on the Humanitarian issues
RF ground troops have very recently increased their numbers on the border
A large air exercise in Western RF is about to commence
The RF military and GRU have now taken over formal Command & Control over the separatists to halt the UKR advance

It is now looking like that the RF will soon enter the East in response to the developing humanitarian issue being caused by the abhorrent UKR military shelling of civilian areas ;)

Or Russia for Russians, even.

There is nothing amusing with the neo-Nazi slogans, Astar.

Er, does make that make them less Nazi and less dangerous?

Er, no. It makes people who are worried about the banderites just as worried as the people who are worried about the nazis in Russia.

The exodus westwards will happen when Ukraine is granted visa free entry into the EU..
