Pancake Day (UK), or Shrove Tuesday, is definitely today, followed by Ash Wednesday tomorrow, etc... until Good Friday and Easter Sunday, which falls on 11th April this year.

I prefer the whole week of pancakes for Maslenitsa (Russia), though, especially with the Honey Fair...!

:D

Pancakes with caviar? - Oh yes! (But I still prefer sweet pancakes - I think my brain has been programmed to prefer sweet pancakes! I've tried savoury ones in Europe and here, and, although I like them with caviar, salmon, etc, I still prefer them with maple syrup or some natural Russian honey with vanilla ice cream...!)

By the way, here's an easy (and tasty!) pancake recipe:

125 g flour, 1 beaten egg, 300 ml milk - sift flour into mixing bowl, making a 'hole' in the middle. Add egg and slowly add milk into centre, stirring until smooth. Butter frying pan and cook on slow heat. Makes about 6 pancakes.

To be honest, i don't like savoury pancakes either. My favourites are plain pancakes with butter:) whereas my younger one loves eating them with a chocolate sauce

Maybe i have been here too long :p but 'Shrove Tuesday' sounds like a distant land i was once familar with, has got me thinking about Pancakes though.

Pancakes with Meat, Mushrooms, or my favourites with Tvorog, all of them with a huge dollop of Smetanka!

Caviar Pancakes just don't do it for me.
