its a way of automating the distribution of information

a good example is the news forums here on the site - you will need to log out to see them

all the posts there are created using RSS feeds from different news outlets such as SkyNews, CNN, and others

there are now hundreds of thousands of news sources (including Blogs) using this technology, and there are special programs you can use to consolidate the particular feeds you are interested in reading on a regular basis - the one I use (i barely have time to go look at it very often), is called Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com/) . Anytime I see an interesting blog or forum or site which has updated interesting content AND that site has an RSS feed, all I do is click on the RSS link (looks like this usually http://expat.ru/images/feed-big.png) and it is automatically added to my list at Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com/) When I log into my account there, I see a big list of all the sites i subscribe to, and can just click on any of them to see the latest posts

sorry for the delay... use the following URL in your favorite newsreader program:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/external.php?lastpost=true

this will return the last posts made in the last 10 active threads
