Has anyone ever seen challah for sale in Moscow? It used to be sold at a bakery near Metro Aeroport where I live, but it's gone.

Hleb Nasushny (Хлеб Насущный). There is one on Old Arbat Str, one by the m. Park Kultury, one opposite to Lotte Plaza on Novinsky blvrd.

if you can't find it, it is indeed easy to make.
and hopefully my comment is not seen as racist, if the bread is being used for -milchig- purposes only, or for not kosher , i would replace half the amount of water with milk. makes an incredible soft and fluffy dough.

Molly, I obviously do not know if Hleb's challah is kosher.

But if you are following kashrut, here is a list of kosher restaurants and grocery stores (it's in Russian, but names and addresses are very understandable):
