A collection point accepting assistance for flood victims in the Far East (Amur region, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast and Khabarovsk Krai) has opened on Sparrow Hills (Vorobyovy Gori) . It will be open 24 hours a day for about a week.

We need the following things: heat guns, rubber boats, generators, canned food, rice, buckwheat, school supplies, boots, diapers, wheelchairs, baby food, babyfood mixes, household cleaning products, candles and matches. Also school bags, new underwear and socks, warm clothing for adults and children, shampoo, soap, toothpaste.

The Amur area, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and Khabarovsk Krai have been swept by floods. At least 40,000 people live in the 125 towns affected, of which more than 20,000 have been evacuated. According to the Russian Ministry of Health, the floods have affected not only homes and property, but also people: 2,260 people, among them 748 children, have been hospitalized.

The floods? Or the drive for donated goods? I just got it off Interesting Moscow (https://www.facebook.com/pages/%D0%98%D0%BD%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F-%D0%9C%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B2%D0%B0/532883263410720) on Facebook.

But of course I've been hearing about the floods now for nearly month.

The flooding is showing up a bit on my facebook Russia feeds, but not as I've seen in mainstream US media.
