Yes, my barber, Jarred. He gives me an outstanding shave and haircut every two weeks. He's in San Marcos California. Want his number?

Search for a pretty Russian hairdresser, why waste your time with barbers?

I've been going to one of the bigger chains of salons here so far and never really had an issue. They're a bit pricey though, I have to be honest.

Russian language only at the reception, make an appointment with IRINA (Levitskaya).
(she does not take on walk in's) and you will be never disappointed. worth the time and money to travel out there.

There used to be (is?) a decent barber shop in Kievsky Vokzal but the turnover of hairdressers was very high and seldom did one get more than two haircuts from the same woman. They did/ do traditional mens haircuts, generally walk-ins only, and cost now probably about 500 rubles (a few years back it was 250 rubles but I don't know what it is now).
Comparable fancy "salon" prices are probably around 1000-1500 rubles or more, and as a foreign man you normally getting handed to the apprentices to work on (and the haircut shows it).

If I remember correctly, finding a good reasonably priced barber was one of my first challenges when arriving in Moscow back in 2001
I eventually found a place opposite Tretyakovskaya metro Stn. It was a small unisex salon and the staff were all female. I didn't speak a word of Russian back then and I remember we all had a good laugh at my attempts to communicate exactly what I wanted.
The place is probably an expensive designer clothes shop now.

Wow man. U get a haircut every two weeks? That's pretty impressive.

I recall the infamous OverHeardInGoldmanSachsElevator website-

#1: Haircuts are the ultimate economic indicator. In bad times, itís every 8 weeks. In good, itís every 6.

#2: I go every 3 weeks.

butttttttttttttttttttttt..............

a shave every 2 weeks??????????? dunno what to say about that.......
