The new area trial directory of Teachers:
To teachers
This is NOW the list of teachers above of which I have now prepared for Moscow and the Moscow region. This is a trial, I hope for improvements on the next one.

PLEASE!! No irrelevant babble on this thread. Go to the teacher’s folder instead. And please report babble to the administrator if you see it.

No doubt this directory will grow, now that all members who are teachers will see it. All teachers who have entered themselves in this directory please repeat your details again by inserting your post on this thread. This is to allow the directory user to pm you.

Also new entries may insert their posts, using same design, name, area, etc. You will be included in the next directory.
Now! With this trial directory, there is no need to make this one a sticky, as it will continue to stay on top with posts from teachers on the directory and posts from new entry teachers who want to be included in the directory. The improved directory will happen in a month’s time.

The design of the directory needs to be discussed further, as I see now some complications of what the design of this forum can allow. Please discuss your improvement ideas in the teacher’s folder which will be most welcome, but not here.

Please inform me if you have been telephoned by unwanted schools on the pretence of being a student or group of students. It’s happened to me already, and it’s not welcome.

Please report any suspicious or irrelevant posts on this thread to the administrator. Do it by pressing the alarm button on the top corner of that particular post.

All teachers help me with the improvement of this directory with your ideas; let’s work as a united team.

To users of this directory.
This is the teacher’s directory, and hopefully you will find it useful. All the teachers are grouped together in one small space. Rather than scattered over many pages and hence specific teachers in specific areas are difficult to find. So hopefully you will find teachers more quickly.

Look for the teacher located in an area convenient to you that is offering the age group and level you are looking. And then look below for the teacher to pm that particular teacher. If you can’t find a specific teacher you are looking for please pm me.

The directory is small at the moment, but it will get bigger and the design will improve.
If you have any criticism of this directory please make a suggestion on the teacher’s folder section.

Enquiries from schools or agents
Please be clear about your identity, because teachers are wary of giving their personal details to unknown entities. The school or agent must be a legal entity in Russia. Please give clear detailed information about what you are offering when you pm the teacher. Please be aware that you must be legally allowed to employ a foreigner, or that the teacher has the right to be employed or self employed by you. I.e.: possessing a residency and an entrepreneur’s licence. In so being they will tell you their rates as a freelancer. Not you. Don’t insult their rates.
Do not pretend to be a student, a group of students, or a direct contact from a corporate company. It is likely you will be discussed in the teacher’s folder. Make it a plus for yourselves and you will do well.

A new directory will be formed for the Summer 2008. Tere will be another formed for the Autumn 2008 , starting from August 2008. Hopefully you know what I'm taking about.

The Summer season Russians do have a long holiday, but it's possible in some areas they may take the opportunity to to take a short condensed course where they're too busy in the Winter. This could appy to adults aswell as children.

August is a good starting point for students and pupils to enrol for the popular September season, perhaps I should start earlier , as I know I'm going to be over-booked anyway.

But let's start with the Summer season anyway. Go to the new thread on teachers folder and update that you want to be in the next updated directory.

Thanks for your introduction. I'm planning a new updated directory first for this Summer period, secondly for bookings for September.

As I have stated before September is the biggest month, and you should build up your students for this mont as early as possible. If you overbook, fine! It's a good problem to have. They are on a waiting list and your fees are good.

For September I have already re-booked the majority of my pupils at 1500 rublees per academic hour, per group or one to one. Now some of them they are not happy about the price as it's more than double what they were paying in the past. We also have a new generation of pupils booking in for September .

We predicted that about 50% of parents would reject our future fees, but no! only a few did. I think the student the student number will double in September, we will then have the cost of two classrooms with my wife also teaching fulltime, as well as continueing to be admin, wow! she's got a lot of work ahead of her. But that's what she says she wants.

Randy

Welcome Randy. As you see this is a trial directory and when we see very good response we will ask for a sticky for all potential students and parents of pupils to see. Very young children are normally daytime from morning in Russia, teenagers late afternoon after school, and adults in evening or weekends.

Stating your preferred area is important, as you don't want to spend most of the time travelling when you are charging for the lesson. Itis interesting to state if you have a classroom where they can come conveniently to you. But if you want to teach at homes I really do suggest that you try to stick to areas easy for you.

Rates should be reasonable and uniform,as being too cheap causes suspicion of quality, and might lower the standards of living for teachers who are resident in Russia if too many don't realise what the real cost of living in Russia really is. Let's not forget that any decent teacher should expect a respectable living standard of living. Those who don't, customers should treat them with suspicion.

Now more teachers plase and then suggestions of how we as teachers can make this directory th beste source of contact for prospective students and parents of pupils.

Welcome Allielizzie as our latest member teacher on the teachers' directory. I see you specialise in teaching children. Same as I do , but Western region only, and either in my classroom or close to where I live in the Rublevka. I have no time to travel far now as I am well established.

It is interesting you are prepared to teach from one year old and there is heavy demand for very young ages. It has worked well for me with my own child at the moment, but not others children. I choose minimum age 3 plus for the moment. Even the ages of 3 I found very challenging untill the past year. But it is not so bad now as experience means a lot. I have learnt that not every three old child is not the same. Some I will fail with, but recently others I have succeeded with very well, and now I am so happy with my results. From the ages of for to ten, I have never had a problem in that age group, and that is where my best experience lies.

But back to the ages of between one and two. Now that must take a very special different skill. and I am tempted to experience, as at the moment I have refused this age group. Perhap I should think of my own child born in Russia, and how he developed. It's definately something to with play and judging how such a young child is responding.

The other reason for this post is that I think the next directory should be improved very soon, make it more prominent. Are there any suggestions from anyone on how we can improve this directory? For the benifit of all of us?
