Hi everybody!

I am going to study in MGIMO University for a year. The university is located in Prospekt Vernadskogo and I was wondering if the area was nice to live in or I should better find an accommodation downtown and commute to go to MGIMO. Does anybody live there? What is your opinion?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Vernadskovo is nice place to live. I lived in this neighbourhood for 6yrs. The rentals are high near Vernadskovo.

Thank you for the info! :)

I saw on the map that it was quite far from the center though.. How long does it take to go downtown?

The area is nice. There are a couple of parks around. And you might want to consider getting something closer to the university itself to make the daily commute easier.

I find it a bit far from sites of entertainment and fun however.

Location is really nice.
But unfortunately MGIMO itself is not conveniently located to the nearest metro station.

The locations is good. Actually the good location in Moscow you can easily understand by dividing the Moscow map into four parts. Center is the best of course. And after North-West is good area and South-East is the cheapest place in the city. Than everything which is closer to North-West is better and what is closer to South-East is oposite.

I used to study at mgimo and I was living nearby) well, the neighborhood is nice and convenient.you got a couple of parks,a couple of trade centers and nice cafes. It takes abt 20 mins to get to the center by metro.
But the thing is that leaving in the center you can just walk to all the best malls, museums, clubs and cafes).iIt feels like real Moscow and you will get this city if you live in the center.
All in all,Vernadskogo is nice, but if you can afford leaving in the center this is best (to my mind).

I love the South West area of Moscow. I live and work there. It's quiet, green and safe. And it takes only 20 min by subway to downtown.

For my opinion it is the best decision to live near the place where you will study in Moscow.
