Anyone on this forum live in Barvikha? Am moving there in 2 weeks.

How is the traffic on the Rublevka in the morning? Where do people shop for food? Any other tips?

I used to work in Zhukovka about 10 years ago. I loved it out there but the traffic could be a nightnare and not helped by Putin's motorcade. All the traffic would be pulled to the side where we would wait, sometimes 20 minutes for hum to come speeding through down the middle of the road.
Gonna be great in the summer with the river nearby.

Are you serious? Good luck with the traffic :) Pass the place mostly on weekends, in the summer, the traffic can be a b*tch even then but my destination's a bit further away..

I think I want to try this. Separate house with nice property and banya - yes please!

It's right on the edge of Barvikha, closer to the MKAD way before the intersection and the Luxury Village. I'm crossing fingers that it won't be as bad as people say.

A colleague moved there and was making fun of 'us' living in the polluted city center.

Three months later I received an invite for yet another flatwarming party from him - right in the center of Moscow.

He couldn't cope with the traffic jams and long commutes any more.

My office is outside the city as well though, so I don't have to deal with commuting through Moscow every day.

The Shining Part 2 - Starring MrZuzzo

All my neighbors live in mansions, some have their own security.

The mansion beside my property is owned by a priest (LOL!).

My house is a shack compared to what stands beside it.

Maybe some of that wealth will rub off on you MrZ and that isn't a joke. You make contacts with the wealthy and run in their circles, you might end up like them... that is, if that is what you want. :D

What's MILF in English ?

Just as I thought. The English have a way with English which is uniquely their own.

Anyway, thanks Yaks. No need for an Englishman to help a colonial when another is perfectly capable of doing the lifting.

well aussie is a bastardized form of both (or is that bastardised?) so we use and understand both....but we say centre, metre, colour, favourite, travelling like the poms....say gotten, truck(never lorry) etc like the Americans.

and we can live in both flats and apartments but also say "units"

so we are quite handy at the task of translation tween the two :)

Alan65 nods sagely in the direction of Yaks and thinks....whenever the English need translation services for the bastard cousins across the pond...employ an Aussie.

There is only one reason why the sun does not set on the American empire and that is because we gave you GMT and timezones, we will have to change that now!
