This morning one of my students said to me:

"It's very cold today isn't it?"

I thought: 'You're Russian and you think it's cold!!!"

I'm Russian too, and it's also very cold for me today. :-) just russia is a big country and some people used to live in southern regions where winters are warm enough.

Better a cold dry weather as today than raining or snowing hot -5 celsius )))

I would feel macho and able to brag to the folks back home (I'm talking Florida and New York), but just going outside makes me cough and wheeze like a tubercular patient. Kinda nice in a sick way.

Saturday night for me was the coldest period of recent days because of wind chill.
Generally its typical Russian winter weather, not extremely cold.

It's because of higher humidity.

Let us see you in SPb at -5...-10, with refreshing wind from Finnish Gulf - "it's uforgettable tooooo..."(C) ;)

At the same time I feel much better at -35...-40 in Siberia with low humidity.

You must be proud - he/she has selected to spend money for your lessons, not for normal fur coat + hat ;)

Tolik, -21 is outside the city, always add 3-4 degrees for inside.

Well, in 2007 I was there for 23 Feb :D Cold brandy and hot smoked omul' - super!
Then next year I was there twice, in Jun and Jul - some people were swimming in the water (+4)
And in 2010 I was there with family in Aug, water was +10.
Local people say, Western coast (to Irkutsk) is always cold, because of depth (linearly - 20 m from the shore - 20 m depth, 100 m - 100 m depth), while Eastern coast (to Ulan-Ude) is much warmer (not so deep, and most of omul' fish population lives/grows there).

Apparently *Penka* has real fur coat & hat.

:groan: Soon PETA come to her flat to violently demonstrate (http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-clothing/fur.aspx) the evil of *Penka* ways :sunny:
