Hello Tanya,

How much can you pay, for each lesson?
How many lessons do you want?

Best regards,
Natalia (Native English speaker from London)

Why pay?

Come along to Booze Bub and join in the English language conversations, chat and banter with the usual Friday evening gathering of Ex-Pats from many countries and some Russians too.

Don't be shy, come to the bar area where the American barman will effortlessly introduce you around.

I mostly agree with Tony. Many teachers aren't teachers too. That's not to say their students don't make progress from "studying" with them. That's because you don't need an English teacher to make progress. Most people's greatest (but perhaps not only) need is practice. A good teacher could help you make progress faster, teach you how to teach yourself faster, work on nuances and perfect language. Nevertheless, ...once again... the biggest part (but certainly not all of it) to learning language is practice. How do you expect to speak fluently about topics that you've never spoken about before?

I think most native speakers, especially at a bar, would be happy to trade their time for the opportunity to chat up good looking Russian girls. ;) Good luck.

What time are you meeting? I've been wanting to meet a few people from the forum face to face.

I will aim to get there after 8pm this Friday. Others are there earlier but tend to 'fall over' sooner than I do later in the evening :( :11581:

RT television are live broadcasting there until then and I am very camera shy!

Ask Pete the barman to point out either PeteD or me. Other introductions will follow, to both Guys and Girls.

But don't do the Russian thing and sit in a huddle around a table - socialise around a bar, English 'local' style :)

Ugh, the last thing I want to do is be on TV or get caught in the footage. Are they there all night? I'd rather avoid RT. Nothing against them. I just don't want to be on TV. I have to get up early to work. I work on Saturdays... :bash: I make a lot of excuses as you can see too. Well, maybe tomorrow or on a Friday, I will pop by. Life has been stressful lately, I wouldn't mind unwinding.

I am not very good at the mingling English thing as I don't have a perfect type 'A' personality. Perhaps I'll try though.

Wow! What a ramble!

I'll see if my buddy from Texas wants to come along. Also, I'm married so I'm not looking for any cute Russian girls. ;)

I won’t be there much before 8pm this Friday - I have a late lesson.
The RT live broadcast usually lasts for 5 – 8 minutes and takes place between 8.10pm and 8.25pm, depending on the news in the studio. The O.B. team usually set up the equipment from around 7pm, so don’t be distracted or put off by them at that time!
The reason why TonyP is always late is because he can’t remember his way to the pub…
… then, he only has a couple of beers so that he doesn’t forget his way home again!

Of course, if you tune into RT at this time you're bound to see PeteD lurking behind the interviewees...
