Following up on some comments made in the Site & Forum Ideas forum (http://expat.ru/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=21), some changes have been made. They are listed below.

I want to thank everyone who took the trouble to provide feedback and discuss the changes.

Forum rules update
The forum rules (http://expat.ru/forum/rules.php) have been re-shuffled and updated. The reason for this was that the rules weren't grouped in a logical way, and all together formed a large, rather difficult to read list.

Changes:
- A Summary at the very beginning, mentioning the basics of our rules
- Sections (e.g. Netiquette, Posting Rules, Moderation) with the rules for those these subjects listed
- Some rules were so lengthy that they have been shorted or split up in separate rules.

With these changes, the basics of our rules, hopefully, have become clearer and rules can be found/checked in a more logical way.

Other than that, there are no changes in what we generally allow or forbid. Anyway, you can do the comparison if you want to. The new forum rules (as well as this forum) contain a link to the old rules. Note that numbers have changed.

Temporarily banned members / the Sin Bin
Temporarily banned members now don't show up as "Banned" but as "in the Sin Bin". In the Sin Bin, you are able to send and receive PMs and read the forum, but not post on it.

The reason for this is that we want to clearly distinguish between those who made a mistake and will be back soon, and those that we have really kicked off.

At the same time, with these new possibilities for those in the Sin Bin, we won't tolerate anyone trying to 'dodge' a temp ban. I guess that is fair to all.

Automatic closing of old threads
Threads that have been inactive for more than 60 days, with the exception of Sticky threads, will be automatically closed and can only be re-opened on special request.

Reason for this is that, especially newbies, accidentally comment on old threads that are not relevant anymore. This measure prevents that mistake.
