View Full Version : the beauty of dance

Got to dance a little today, barely dragged my throbbing muscles home, but happy as a puppy on a lawn!

Question: why nobody wants to see dance for what it is, a beautiful body language which, if learned properly, gives you another powerful means of self-expression, just another enabling option.

Now several typical attitudes to dancing:
- silly and is suitable for discos/clubbing only (by non-dancers)
- sacred activity which must be approached with utmost seriousness (by dance school students)
- good for money making (by many professionals I'm personally acquainted with)

Honestly, I would love to see as many of you people as possible trying and succeeding in self-expression in a dance room. Just a thought.

Here's something that I never got to dance too, a great shame. Just appreciate the beauty of two rhythms in this song.

Jas, she is obviously supple and moves well, but the music is depressing - somewhat boring - please find something more lively and entertaining! :)

If she is a Pakistani, whats the tribe?

I think she is one of the most talented dancers I have seen; she definitely expresses herself very well and dances much better than any Arabic lady I have watched dance.

Of course, there are loads of Belly Dancing classes in Russia for the girls to perfect the art.

Yes, beautiful, but it isn't really the matter of who can dance and who can't - everybody can, I'm sure, it's in people's nature, it's just we too rarely get to do it.

If I could buy the powers to dance, or a left and right foot which moved when they should, I would spend every Rouble I have to be able to dance.

Not being able to dance or play a musical instrument is one of my biggest regrets and failings :(

Noo! The are exactly preaching this priciple "Anyone can dance!". Zumba franchises are spread in all over the world now as a very simple fitness activity suitable for everyone.

Yes, I know, but all the basics come from ballroom (Latin/Standard). If you learn to dance these, you can dance anything.

That's right. But Zumba is for such people as TolkoRaz ))) The instructor repeats simple movements hundreds times. And the main purpose is not to dance properly and end up with a beautiful composition, but to just enjoy your body and train it. Its the ideal thing for people who can dance only like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY_DF2Af3LM

GalinaP

But in ballroom there would also be million-times repetitions, and you get the rhythm types hammered into you, so you aren't likely to forget at least a couple of them, and from the diversity of the dances you can pick your favourite and dance it (at home, for instance), and there are levels, like an H (Hobby), which is quite, quite simple. So, shall we dance?

She is Lebanese - Across the Globe, they spend the most on their looks and even take mortgages to be more beautiful than the girl next door which is very difficult in Beirut! ;)

Beirut is most definitely a man's world, but the girls are very high maintenance!

I miss seeing this lady in Beirut's restaurants and nightspots, another one of God's gorgeous creatures - Suzanne Tamim, a Lebanese model.

Sadly, she was found murdered in 2008 in Dubai - an Egyptian male was convicted of her murder; he reportedly slit her throat or beheaded her! :(

I bet he looks really presentable, what's with the huge effort invested, and could be 'the face of the family', or its facade.

To tell you the truth I am not his big fan. But the fact he is doing it in his 50+ inspires me. It means I can do it in my 25+ for sure.

no it's not just a name. It's just that what you think of samba has got little to do the many varieties of the genre that are practised over there

GalinaP

Sure, sure. But would you deny the right to Ballroom dancers their own version of Samba dance?
